Want to buy a air rifle to shoot snakes, turtles, etc in my pond without rustling up the neighbors. Anyone have one they like and can recommend? Are the ones that come with the silencer much quieter?

My son has a Gamo big Cat .177. I've rolled a few possums with it.

We've had good results with Beemans currently have the Elkhorn and it's deadly for squirrels. Scopes are the tricky part because airguns recoil forward some regular rifle scopes won't hold a zero. I have no experience with Gamo good or bad.

Went Gamo and it was worth every penny.

Deadly little weapon that is accurate and while reach out there. I got the 177 but would recommend the 22 if you need some extra umph on your shots.

Still, the 177 will do damage.

Gamo for break action. For co2 or compressed air, go with a benjamin marauder (bolt action repeater).

One thing you might want to consider is a side or under lever spring piston rifle. No break barrel and turtle head accuracy at up to 50 yds. Gamo ACCU177 is one, RWS Model 48 is another and there are several others.

Give the Pyramyd Air website a visit.

I have had a Benjamin Titan NP in 22. It wasnt bad for the price but it was what I paid for it. Then I got a Hatsan 125 last fall in 25 and love it. Here is a link. The only draw back to the 25 is that you cant buy ammo for it at any chain store you have to order online. But man it delivers a punch.
If you can spare the extra money definitely go with the gas piston rifles over the springers.

Coming to ask a similar question. My squirrels are staying out of range for my pellet gun. I need better accuracy without any more noise.
