I just got this Minn Kota Copilot for my boat and after getting some work done to it, I mounted it on the boat and it worked fine last weekend down in Fourchon. Had no issues and was very impressed with it. Went down to the camp in Dularge this weekend to do a little fishing. Got to the first spot, plugged it in and heard the normal "BEEP" it always gives then started to use the remote and everything was fine until I lowered it into the water and it worked for a few seconds then just quit on me. I messed with the trolling motor as much as I could on the water and nothing was happening it just would not work. Pushed the "test" button on the trolling motor and it showed full battery. It was working fine and then all of a sudden nothing.... no beeps no nothing.... Has anyone ever had this issue before?? I am hoping it is just a dead remote battery because all of my connections seem to be fine. any help is greatly appreciated because it put a huge hamper on the fishing trip.... can't do much sight fishing without a trolling motor

go to bassboatcentral.com they have a trolling motor board that is monitored by Motorguide and minn kota reps. you will probably get a better answer there for something this technical.

Try what wood said, then report back when you find something.

I have an iPilot. Couple years old now. It's great, but not perfect.

Sometimes the remote won't engage. I also with the entire unit was built more robust. Also has rust around some of the "seems" on the motor part of the unit.

If it weren't for the "Anchor Mode", I think I'd rather have a manual trolling motor, but that feature is GREAT. It's nice to pull up to a rig and click ANCHOR.

I'm going to look around and see if there's a better option than MinnKota.

Went with a buddy offshore this past weekend and this feature is amazing when you post up on a rig.

I was told merc is making that function for outboards. Would be a game changer offshore

Yes, that would be interesting.

Still have to pay attention... It loses it's bearings occasionally and starts to drift away from the setpoint.

Sometimes I wonder if the rig might be blocking a satellite now and then.

I still want that feature, but on a better built unit. The newer iPilots hopefully are better than my 3 year old.
