I’m just curious. As much as I am in the woods I have never seen one alive but I see them dead in the road all the time. I don’t want to encounter one that’s pissed off obviously but I find it weird that I’ve never seen one while hunting

Plenty of times. Seem to find them more in the spring.

They are primarily nocturnal, but I've seen a couple, like 2, wander through over the years while sitting on a stand.

I see armadillos more often, but yes I have. I have a few skunks that come around my homesite. My dog has gotten hit twice but my cats give the skunks all the room they want.

I've seen a few cross a pipeline while hunting.

One morning before daylight had one walking down the old logging road that leads to my stand. He was just taking his sweet time and I stayed a good distance back just in case.

I've seen them a few times. Got out of my truck in the dark a few weeks ago and heard something rustling around. Turned my headlamp on and a skunk had walked up and was doing that handstand bullshite about 10 ft from me. Made my heart skip a beat.

Yes, I've seen them at night coming out to the feeder when I was hog hunting in East Texas. Couple of them walked right under the stand I was in.

Not the best feeling when its 10:00 pm at night and you hear something walking right under your stand.

Haven't been in a long time but go camping at Cades Cove and you'll see plenty.

I have seen them but they are not very common in our area and very secretive.

I've had one walk under my ladder stand in the dark on two different occasions. Both times, I finally had to shine my light down to see what it was and had an "oh shite" moment and froze.

I saw one this year leaving the stand in the evening. It ran when it saw me. I was waiting for it to blast its scent but it didn't. Only time I have seen one in the woods though.

Have had a few come into a campsite after dark before. One decided to hang out under the chairs my wife and I were sitting in for a bit which I wasn’t real thrilled about

Had one rub against my leg on the front porch one cold night while getting kindling out of the wood box. I thought it was just our cat then realized our cat was dead. I achieved levitation that evening.
Almost hit one with my metal detector on a night time relic hunt.

I was turkey hunting one Spring morning in Sherburne. I could hear rustling in the leaves and didn't pay much attention. Several minutes later I saw this young skunk who was walking directly towards me. With my back against the tree, and shotgun across my lap, I didn't move. Skunk walked right next to my boot as I could see his tiny eyes that were black as coal. Pretty sure they can't see to well in the daytime which is why most are nocturnal. Something I'll never forget.

Saw one recently while bird hunting in the Atchafalya basin. Was out in the middle of the field late afternoon. There was still another couple hours of daylight.
Thankfully I saw it before my dogs did and kept them away from it. That was my first time seeing one besides dead or crossing a road.
