I wish they would let me hang a stand in the camping area. I see deer every time I take the dogs on a sunrise walk.

Is there places to camp away from others, and be close to hunting area? Would like to bring my son and maybe hunt squirrels a little. Never been there

From a baw who grew up hunting Thisawait here's the run down. It's the hardest place that you'll ever hunt. No ATVs, very few trails to walk, and palmettos taller than your truck as far as the eye can see. Where they select cut the briers are nearly impossible to penetrate. Did I mention the rediculous amount of rattle snakes and cotton mouths? Sooooo, besides all of that I'd put money down that a state record is lurking somewhere deep in there. I've seen deer cross the pipe line while scouting that would put a hunter on the cover of every hunting magazine in the south, maybe the country.

Not a fan of this. I can't stand snakes. Is there any water in that WMA?

I would like to give it a try for the hell of it. The risk might be worth the reward! I will try it out in the near future. Is it still a management area as far as buck regulations go?

The snakes and palmettos keep meet out of TW.

There are no longer any buck restrictions there (for the poster that asked).

TW holds loads of woodies in their bayou (crosses plant Rd) and slews. The woods will get sloppy after a few good rains but no flooded timber really. For those who will take the plunge, make sure to check rules and regs because they've been changing yearly. Jack arse board that calls the shots have never stepped foot on the property much less hunted it. It's almost strictly bow now which makes 0 sense to me. The numbers of hunters continue to go down because it is so difficult to access etc.

Yea I don't mind the bow hunting. I just want to hunt some good deer. Wouldn't mind finding a little woodie hole while I'm at it.
