Just bought a boat from Florida in May. its kind of an all day tour running around writing checks. Three pieces of advice: read the thread linked above, go to all the places (don't have to do dmv, can do title place and I was in and out of wlf in BR in 5 mins with boat #'s), and, if possible, get dealership to make out on itemized bill of sale with your purchase price as the factory price. I had dealer discounts of 8500k on mine and the tax office said with the new tax laws I can be taxed on these. That was a nice surprise.

Is this why every post was down voted? I searched before I started a new thread. I guess I just didn't type in the right words. My bad.
And I'm not really buying the boat from a "dealership". I'm having it built by prodigy boats, if that makes any difference.

It's a multi step process of paying parish and state taxes, then WLF feea for boat registration, then DMV to register trailer. Knowing this will take a little time going in will help you be less frustrated, and be sure to keep ALL paperwork no matter how minor you think it is.
Im in the process of doing this. I went today to my parish tax office and had them stamp the 1331 form that has to be sent to La Dept of Revenue.
I went saturday and had my trailer registration done. After I pay the La tax from buying the boat in Ms, I can then send everything to WL&F for a title and numbers
ETA:No parish/city taxes were due since the boat was bought from an individual

Those boats are fine! I've been eyeing those to replace my gator tail for awhile. I read on MMT that they are great to deal with as well.

They are. Chad, the owner, seems like a great guy from talking to him. I've changed my mind about 5-6 times and he's been patient and sends me a new quote every time. He's texted me after hours to let me know how much he appreciates my business. Also, they build one hell of a boat. That's why I'm going with them. I'm getting an 18x51 loaded out with a 37efi gtr. I wouldn't hesitate to get one if I were you.

Can you pay taxes to each by mail or is it faster to take a day and hit parish taxes then drive to BR to do state then hit WLF last?
you can pay state in new orleans. its on poydras right by the superdome. It was a pain to find, but its there. forgot what floor.
Parish I paid at school board building in thibodaux. When you finish paying taxes on the boat/motor you can then register with the WLF.

Why a second BOS? does the DMV keep it even though you need it to pay taxes?
second bill of sale is for the trailer. you pay taxes on that one at the dmv to get the license.

The state said I can turn in all info via email which I just sent. Heading to dmv and parish school board this afternoon. Once all of it is emailed back from the state then I can send to WLF. No need to travel to Nola or br. I'd travel if I couldn't email everything to the state bc mail is so slow.

I'm going to just bring it all to br since I live so close and I'll be ready to get my boat on the water as soon as I get it.

You can use it while waiting. Keep copies of all papework with you. I talked to WLF today. I used mine last weekend and will be this weekend
