I've got a S&W .357 I'm thinking of selling online. How does it usually work? Do you ship it to a gun dealer in the area of the buyer?

"No, but you know you can do a layaway plan yourself, it's called saving."
This is what I always want to tell people when they ask.

Yes, you can mail it directly to their dealer, but only through FedEx/UPS expedited service and you have to go to a hub to do it. The little UPS Stores and FedEx Kinkos are not actually owned by those companies and will not let you ship guns and ammo. If it was a long gun you could ship it via USPS.

I'd stay away from Paypal. They'll freeze your account if they find out it's for a gun

Ive sold a few.
Never used gunbroker or armslist, my sales were on various gun forums.
Follow props post about shipping.
I've always requested payment as a money order. If they send a check I don't ship anything until it clears.
Be up front in your ad about those things and you'll sift through the scammers pretty easily.

Post it on LA Sportsman, meet someone in person in a parking lot somewhere and only accept cash.

Post it on LA Sportsman,
I'm in KC....I guess I'll take it to the S&W forum and post there. It is a 19-1 .357 and from my understanding supposedly that is one of the best they ever made. It is in pretty good shape, but shows some wear. So hopefully can get $600-$700 for it.
Thanks for the info guys.
