Was thinking about taking the kayak out tomorrow if the water isn't too bad.

Is this still an attempt at the maiden voyage or has that already occurred?

The fishing is pretty good. If you launch at Bason's or the public launch watch out for the duck dynasty crowd.

I've made the maiden voyage, this will be voyage number 2. I didn't have an anchor or stakeout pole last time, so it was pretty tough fishing.

Any natural bayou on falling tide will be money . Drift vudu's under cork or small swim baits in curves. Good luck

Appreciate the advice, last time I went down there I got skunked. Went right out of the public launch and fished those cuts all morning, and got nothing.

chances are, if you're that close to the launch and fishing, then theres plenty of other people doing the same that don't know the area... and plenty boat traffic.

also with duck season starting Saturday, if you go on a weekend, you'll get run out of most places with the quickness....

best bet is wait till it gets really cold, and go sit on a white bucket at the pump station for trout like all the Vietnamese

So golden meadow in a kayak is a no go?

Look man, I am just starting out fishing and decided a kayak would be a good idea to help with that. I'm not trying to steal anyone's spot, I just want to catch a couple redfish and a few trout and go home.

dude, I just said if you stay close to the launch there's plenty of boat traffic and plenty people fish around there.
go further away from the launch, go in the marsh and find cuts that boats cant get to.

and I was being serious about the trout, wait till it gets cold and go fish sparkle beetles by the pump on bottom.

You are about to realize how long it takes to figure it all out and to start catching fish consistently. There is no such thing as going to grab a couple reds and trout with any predictability, at least not anytime soon.

I do a little different type of fishing than most but when I got my own boat, it took probably two years before I felt like I could find fish even on the worst day.

I'm not saying it's easy, so far I've been down to grand isle and golden meadow several times and brought nothing home. Just wanted to know if I was barking up the wrong tree going down there.

The fishing doesn't look good there, looks dry and road like.

Get a good map of the area. You'll see natural bayous as curving waterways. These will always be deeper than surrounding bays and lakes. The curves in these bayous will always be deeper that th straightaways. When water is below 60 degrees concentrate on these curves and where the bayous enter bays and lakes. Try and always cast up current and retrieve your bait with slow bottom hanging retrieve . On warmer days the fish will suspend and roam they could be anywhere in the bayou and corks are the ticket as the fish will mainly feed up not down. Best days are when the wind and current are going the same way, look for current lines and eddies and position your craft accordingly. The transition has begun and it should be good till February or so if typical weather patterns ensue . Only way to find these spots are good map study and in your case upper body strength . Good luck
