Hunted about 10 times in the last week haven't seen any deer during my hunts. I jumped up 3 while scouting that were laying down. They're eating all the feed I put out at night that's the only pictures I have are night pics. You guys having any luck? I'm in central LA area 2 Evangline parish.

There's acorn trees everywhere. Put the feed out by stands which is also surrounded by acorn trees. I know they're eating acorns but within 2 nights 5-10 deer wipe out a 10 lb pile of corn. They just aren't moving in the day time for some reason.

Yeah, not seeing anything....they are laid up during the day and only moving at night.

Same spot and seeing deer. Haven't been lucky enough to get a shot. I bow hunt almost exclusively and have had a tough time getting a shot in range

Read an article about a study in South Carolina where half the state allows baiting and the other half does not.

In short, they said that baiting with corn allows the deer to remain more nocturnal than where it was illegal to bait. However it's a bit of a catch 22, because if you don't bait, your neighbor probably will forcing you to keep up with the Joneses to try and keep them on your property.

I know, CSB.

Where at in E parish?! I know just about every sq in of it! Lol. Shot a descent six pt yesterday in Allen parish on the river. Tinks 69 and a grunt call was the only reason for it. Dude came flying out of the woods, nose in the air, one thing in mind.

They are not laying up all day and eating at night. They may be eating your corn only at night but they are feeding on something in daylight hours and it's likely acorns as they are abundant

Ditch the corn and find the acorns they are feeding on

I would hunt the acorn trees but it's impossible to hunt them all bc the land we hunt is covered in them. Reason we had put out food was to try to lure them in towards our stands and to get some pictures of the deer. Mostly does right now and 1 4pt. May try to slack off the feed this week and see what happens.

Man you just need to spend 1 full day in the stand and your sure to come out with something and it's a good way to get some time away from the ole lady. Hope it works out for you.

Sounds like a great place

If you want to just take night pictures then keep feeding corn. If you want to eat blackstrap then walk around in those oaks and find the ones they are hitting and set up.

I'm two deer in so far. I've let several walk within bow range. I'm fine with everything else on the property growing another year. Using the rest of the season to scout new spots I've never taken the time to hunt. Maybe the rut will bring something new in, otherwise I'm going to just bust tree rats from the stand.
