And yet another snake id

My son was clipping cantaloupes this morning and
killed this little fellow. I try to educate him on harmless snakes and venomous ones but this one kind of has me baffled. I say water moccasin what do ya'll think

Definitely not a cottonmouth it would be black not banded, but I am not sure looks venomous but not the pattern of a copperhead.

I meant to say he was about 18 inches long but the greenish tail kinda threw me off

I have seen this type of green tail on both jeuvenile copperheads and cotton mouths...this is a cotton mouth...

Truth. The shape of the patterns with dark splotches, the shape of the head, and especially the dark band across the eye give it away.

Well all them frickers i've seen has been black.
I'm no expert but have run across alot of them from small to big & all have been black
