Air in fuel line

Flat boat has been sitting about a month and fuel primer bulb will not get hard and pump fuel into fuel filter (sight glass will not fill up). Therefore motor will not start. How do i get the air out of the line so that it will build pressure and pump? 12 gallon external fuel tank with yamaha fittings.

Sounds like there is a hole in the bulb or hose.

Unplug the line from the motor and stick a small screw driver or punch into the fitting on the hose. Pump the bulb and see what happens. If it shoots out then, your line is good. If it trickles out, then you getting air into somewhere and need a new hose. I had to do this last fall. I run non-ethanol fuel only but those little grey hoses don't hold up. I went to the store and got some good black hose and made one.

Might have a clogged screen at the end of the line in the tank.

Buddy had this problem in his pontoon boat.
Lemme save you some trouble. Jerk everything out associated with the fuel line. Replace it all. Bulb. Line. Screen. Fittings. All of it.
Enjoy the boat!

Spend a few bucks and get a new fuel line.

Make your own line. The ones at walmart and shite have some kind of plastic liner that falls apart and clogs up your fuel system after a few years.

Order of likelihood:
1) Bulb
2) Fuel line cracked/loose at some connection that uses metal hose clamps
3) Quick connect Yamaha fuel fittings
4) Pickup tube in tank
5) Fuel line deteriorated on the inside from ethanol
