Those fish would have spoiled by the time you got Motorboat spelled out.

Any update on the young lady? Crap had me thinking about that jackass at grand isle whipping his kids across my bow on a tube yesterday.

She had plates put in her pelvis and they have closed her wounds. They've held off on doing any surgery on her shoulder today because they think she has considerable nerve damage. Tomorrow she is supposed to have surgery on her shoulder, scapula, and arm. Basically every bone on her left side is chipped, splintered or broken. She has started running a low grade fever, but the DRs said its expected with the size of her wounds and being exposed to lake water. She lost a lot of muscle in her hip/leg so she will have to have extensive rehab to try and regain side to side movement when she heals to that point.

Ain't it ironic how much SEALs and EOD guys are in and out of small boats in all sorts of weather...day night. And often times under duress.....younalmost never hear of stuff like this..with them.....yeah summer of 88 two got hurt pretty bad near willoghby spit...but it rarely happens

Training...no alcohol.....

I like to drink but drinking and driving a boat don't mix

I couldn't agree more. Stay the hell away from driving (anything) when you've been drinking. This poor woman will be messed up for the rest of her life because one of this.

Another point is not to ride in the bow of a boat. It is never safe up there when you are under power.

Actually, guys in the water get run over more than you think....they just don't get hurt because the boats don't have screws.

I know for a fact that the PBRs had Jacuzzi jet drives, and I'll bet the new SOCR (after my time) are prop-less as well.

Nothing about this surprises me in the least.

But I'm a sailor so I know how to survive on the water and what to sweat.

That would not happen in a million years on my boat. It happens because the moron at the helm doesn't take this shite seriously enough. Doesn't consider the consequences of what he's doing and where his passengers are sitting. In short, He's incompetent and COMPLETELY responsible. Even the law states that. It's not up to that dipshit on the bow to not be there, it's up to him to insure they aren't. Period.

The end.

If you don't want that kind of responsibility, don't take your daddy's boat out for a drunken cruise when you have no idea what you're doing.

Amen. The Coxswain is in charge and responsible. (hmm, there's that "responsibility" thing again)

Yeah this isn't even debatable by anyone with actual experience at the helm.
