Looking for the best 9mm, single stack with a safety for carry purposes for under $1000. I've done research, but I wanted to get personal opinions from those who have preferences and personal knowledge.
Andddds go!

For universal every day carry a S&W shield is tough to beat and can be had with or without a manual safety.
If a 1911 is your thing I think Ruger just put out a carry sized 9mm

those who carry a 1911, do you carry with the hammer cocked?

$1000 is a huge budget for a 9mm. Just get a Shield.

Daughter got a P938 for graduation. I am not a fan of compacts but it is a sweet little gun.

Really thought I would end up with the Contour Carry, but it did not work out,

Yep. My CCW is a P938 and it's awesome. If you want to save a bunch of money and have more for ammo, belt, holster, etc. get a shield (have one of these also) and call it good.
Pro tip: if you can wait until Black Friday, Palmetto State Armory the last few years will run the 938 with night sights for ~$550 which is a steal of a price as it would usually be $700+. No gaurentee they will do it this year but I think they've done it 2 or 3 years in a row now. That's where I got mine and haven't looked back, great little gun.

Size wise, it felt good in your hand? One of my fears with the LCP9s is the feel in hand.

Try a Walther. My wife just got a walther CCP, and we both think it feels great with different sized hands. She did not like the LCP9.

Thanks for the info! That one was in my top 3! If they have it in Black Friday, I may own 2 lol

Yes. That is the correct way to carry a 1911.

I've been pleased with my XDs. Not a manual safety, but the grip/trigger safety combo is good.

If he times it right, he can have 3.
