for $1000. Good deal? I know some people say 8ft trailers are pain in the arse. What about 10 footers? I guess subjective. Would be for a 4 wheeler and small motorcycle.
Thanks.

can you show some photos? is it new or used? How do the welds look? Axle nice and straight? Tires wearing evenly?

The big problem(to me) with short trailers,is the length of the tongue.

If it's a fantastic built trailer it might be a good deal. If it's average,it sounds about 300 bucks too high.

Thanks. It is on a classified page and do not know how to post pics, is used, but "never been used". The pics look like it is new and barely ever used. No rust, black paint still looks fresh. The tongue looks to be at least 2ft long.
I think I can get a new 12 footer for around $1200 I might look at retail.

If you can't get the 10 footer for cheaper than 1,000, go get the 12 footer. That is if it is built as well.

Look at both closely.

I bought a Big Tex trailer in 2000 in that size. Fit two dirt bikes on it. It was solid and really well built. It was stolen in 2009. I then bought a Texas Bragg tube trailer but a 5x10. Get a 5x10 since you may need the extra space one day.
BTW, $1000 may be ok for new, $800 sounds better. $600 used is good if in good shape.

Is 10 ft difficult to handle like an 8ft or is there a big difference in the 2 ft?

Night and day. Night and day between 10 and 12 and 12 and 14 also. I have a 4x8 trailer, and pretty much everyone except me has a lot of trouble with it

...why does everyone think an 8ft trailer is such a nightmare?

Hard to back. They are probably ok,if you are pulling it with a small vehicle and can see it,but in a full size pick up or SUV,by the time you see what is going on with it in your mirrors, you've probably already jackknifed it.

Mine is a PITA. Can't even see it when backing up. If you're not delicate with it, it'll go sideways with the quickness

What if you put a rod on the back of it in the middle so you can track it?

You really need to learn how to use your mirrors for small trailers. That's something a lot of people can't do

Yea, but a 10 footer with a 4 ft ramp should have no problem seeing out the back behind a Silverado, right?

I have an 8' and a 16'. The 8's is harder to maneuver. You have to get used to backing it up the 16' you have to be more careful with lane changes and some turns, but in slow speed maneuvering the 8's is a pain. If you have experience with a small boat trailer you will be fine.

It's not a bad deal, but I have seen them for cheaper.

Remember the additional costs of tranferring the title. I bought a used 2014 6.5x10 tube top Top Hat brand trailer a few months back for $800. Cost me another $160 to transfer it... And I only paid $300 for it.. The other $500 was for the spare if you know what I mean.

Short trailers are a bitch to back up, getting a longer tounge helps a lot.

I bought a 6x8 metal bottomed dove tailed trailer about 5 years ago and got it for $700.

I thought it was a pretty good deal.

I just bought a 5x10 from trailer world about a week before the flood and it was 950 + Ttl. I wanted a 6x10 and it wasn't much more than that, may have been the same price but a 6' wide wouldn't fit where I need to store it. The guy did tell me that's the least popular width. He said most people either go 5' or 6'6".
