Did Wildlife and Fisheries change their mind on not allowing the 35 Whelen as a primitive weapon?
I was at my local gun guys shop and he had 6 Handi rifles in 35 Whelen, he said they were leagal now.
Last I heard the head of LDWF stated the 35 would never get approved and that was after the new rules meeting

I saw on here that it was legal. But never anything from LDWF.

Yeah i read it on their website or a publication awhile back. Looking to probably buy one later this year or next year.

I heard it was approved. But never saw the official announcement. Glad I didn't get the 45/79 last year. Now have another option.

I looked hard at the ones he had. That is a rather large cartridge. I would imagine its pretty devastating on deer

I can't believe that they would reverse direction on the 35 after Jimmy Anthony with LDWF called it a ballistic missle and said it would never get approved

Unreal. Takes the fun out of "primitive hunting". At least the 45-70 made long shots slightly more challenging. I've seen a few deer taken with .35 exactly like the -06 (well close enough)

But good news for budget hunters you can now buy one gun for all season

So this does make the Thompson Encore Pro Hunter usable right? If so that's a pretty sweet rifle.

I don't know what was ever fun about ramming stuff town a barrel and waiting. I much prefer my .45-70

You can use a T/C Encore as a primitive weapon now? I thought it had to be a gun that was built before a certain date or a replica of that gun or something like that?
