I'm planning an SBR project in .300 blk, and need some suggestions. So far I've decided on the Daniel Defense .300 blackout pistol and going the Form 1 route to legally throw a stock on. It's got the pistol length gas system, obviously. Will the pistol length system handle suppressed sub sonics? Will the rifle run reliably if I add the JP silent buffer spring(standard weight) with the pistol length gas system? If anyone has personal experience, would I have to add an adjustable gas block for it to cycle subs and super rounds?

Thanks in advance, guys

The gas system shouldn't be a problem. That's what the round is really designed for.

However, I'm not familiar with the buffer system you mentioned.

Yes pistol length will shoot them fine.

Also, yes. The 300 blackout round was made to be suppressed SBR.

I've only read about how awesome the silent buffer is. I haven't had the chance to put one in my hands. From what I understand it's awesome. Running suppressed it gets even quieter. Maybe somebody with some hands on can chime in on that.

No. The 300 SBR will cycle both perfectly. You just need to understand that both rounds will have different impact points. You will need to adjust you optic to which one you will be shooting.

Outstanding. Thanks

Any opinion either way on this pistol by Daniel? I've always read they've got excellent barrels.

I have the ddm4 300 pistol and I run an AAC 762 sdn6 that I run on it. It cycles everything just fine. Its pretty damn quiet too. If you want to shoot 300 blk this is pretty much the perfect platform to do it with.

Pistol length is only way to go

I have a Daniel Defense MK18 upper that I use for my 5.56 (my 300blk is a Noveske). Daniel makes great stuff, can't go wrong. Barrels are some of the best in the business

Y'all have put a lot of indecision to bed. I'm going to start the process for the Silencerco Omega next week. Any of you see anything I'm missing with this setup? Any other issues I may run into? This will be my first specialty rifle.

Make sure you install the qd flash hider correctly if thats what you are going with. I had a slight concentricity issue at first but no major problems. Reinstalled flash hider and torqued to spec and was good to go. Be smart about your optic choice but dont overthink it. I went with an aimpoint micro. Its damn accurate at 100 yrds with 208 gr amaa ammo. I just learnedy holder overs for supers and it works fine. Not precise by any means but it gets the job done. I dont shoot many supers. Too costly for what it is. This is my .30 cal quiet gun primarily.

The Omega is nice from what I hear. Most of my suppressor experience is Thunderbeast and those are great as well. Also, check out the Rugged Suppressors Surge 762. You can change the length of the Surge to change from an SBR and keep as small length as possible or you can extend it for guns where length isn't a priority. It is also full auto rated and rated up to .300 RUM.

Was looking at the Eotech 300 blackout. Kinda feels gimmicky though

Pistol gas system is what you want, the carbine length won't cycle subs properly. With pistol length gas system you can cycle both reliably. I just finished my .300blk sbr and I went with a 1-6 scope. I like that it's basically a red dot when on 1x power and then I have up to 6x magnification with a BDC reticle. It looks crazy with such a big scope with an 8" barrel but I like it a lot and plan to hunt with it some this season.

I have 9" SBR, which obviously has pistol length gas, and a JP silent capture spring. Runs any and all ammo (subs and supers) flawlessly both suppressed and nonsuppressed, with just a standard gas block. If your set up has some hiccups, JP now offers spring kits so you can tune your rifle (similar to going with a heavier or lighter buffer in a standard system) if necessary.
ETA: as far as something I've found that I can't live without, get some sort of "gas busting" charging handle (PRI gas buster or griffin snach). Makes shooting suppressed exponentially more enjoyable.

I just saw this for the first time the other day. Does it actually work as advertised? It seemed kind of gimmicky.

I have one of these on my AR. I have shoot my AR and a buddy's side by side (his has regular charging handle), and it does make a difference.

Can't speak for the PRI, but the Griffin Armament SNACH 100% works in eliminating all gas to the face. My buddy has a standard charging handle and buffer on his SBR with an Omega. I have a JP buffer and the SNACH on mine with a Sandman-S. We both agreed that my set up was much more pleasurable to shoot, mainly due to the charging handle. His felt like you were getting sandblasted in the face.

It has this gas port on the right side, blows everything out away from your face.
