I did a crappy euro-mount of a four point last year to remind me to look at the antlers better and count to three.
In my defense, the bastard should have had brow tines. Never assume......

No reason for me to be in it myself. Too much to hunt without even being in the club. It has just been in the family for 45 years or so. I think once the Uncles are too old to hunt I think we will see better management.

if you and your members are satisfied and never complain about not having any good deer, then by all means keep doing what you're doing, because, you're right, it's working.

You're pissing me off. Don't put down my club like that with zero information about what we kill.

I think slickback had the answer on the first page:

I'd like to get a group of like-minded folks together

Whether you're hounding, brown is down, trophy hunting or a drinking club that hunts a little, things would go smoother with like minded people.

Actually.....you're quite right and I have to agree with you.

As a matter of fact, now that you've put it that way, I agree with you that there shouldn't be a 3 point law governing clubs/private land.

For WMA's however, there need to be rules in place to keep the loons (people not birds) in check.

I'll quit deer hunting before I worry about all these stipulations on what I can and cannot shoot because some jackasses in tensas parish think you should only kill 18" wide 8 points in Louisiana.

We quit running dogs 2 years ago
That's pussy shite. Some of the most fun I have had was running dogs. OTOH, the vast majority of my fun is posted up in a climber or lock-on sitting there not seeing anything. I get the occasional rush thinking a squirrel is a 200" 250lb monster, but just being in the woods is good enough for me. I enjoy sitting, observing, listening, and smelling the woods.

You're still assuming we're shooting the first buck we see
Most people think SELA deer hunters live by the motto, "If it's brown, it's down", but that is not the case. Yes the old timers do, but most people under 50 do not.

If I see a good young breeder buck, I let him walk. If I see a perfect 8pt breeder, more often than not, I'll let him walk. There really isn't a method to what I shoot, it's just whatever I feel needs to be taken out of the herd.

As far as does go....I haven't ever been anywhere that wasn't overrun by them. I don't discriminate

Asking me what is fun about keeping the small buck population in check pisses me off.

I don't hunt WMAs so idk what their problems are. If I had to guess some more rules wouldn't hurt.

I just don't like people telling me what I can do with my own shite based on what happens with their shite.

why should it, that's what you and your "biologist" have said is "working"?
again,, think about this, if you have the time. your herd will eventually be, what you harvest. it never fails. if you shoot 6 points, eventually, you will have mostly that size. ask your biologist?

The think most clubs like that don't get is just how easy it is to take a disproportionate amount of 1.5 year old bucks. they are the easiest animal on the property to kill.
