Traded my 2005 in on a '17 over the weekend. How do you guys feel about the smaller motor? Any other likes/dislikes?

It doesn't seem to be any smaller. The front might have a little more room than the 2nd gen models.

I just bought a 2016 and it's pretty sluggish. I was kinda disappointed it wouldn't turn the tires a little better in some sand I got into. But then again I'm coming from a 2015 f250 I traded in.

Toyota replaced the old 4.0 V6 "truck engine" with the new 3.5 "car engine" that is also in the Camry, Highlander and Avalon. It is a good engine but doesn't have the low end torque that the 4.0 had. The reason for the change was MPG.

I wonder if Nissan will also get rid of their 4.0

I've got a 2016 w/ the V6-came from a 2008 V6.

There is a noticeable difference in the grandma-ish-ness of the 2016. It just doesn't get up and go. HOWEVER, when you activate the ECT, it acts like a champ, and I actually get better gas mileage using it. Maybe because I don't have to be as aggressive with the accelerator to get the results I want.

Either way-we tow a boat in both modes and it does great.

If I were to get a compact, it would be the Chevy Colorado with a diesel. Toyota needs to progress their tech. They seem too focused on their processes rather than improving their product.

That's pretty much how they became the automotive powerhouse they are today. Don't think they are going to change that. As long as CAFE standards keep getting higher, trucks are going to take more cues from passenger cars. Won't be long until they all have aluminum bodies, frames, and replace welding with composite adhesives.

I'm in the market for a new truck and I don't see the benefits of getting the new tacos over the lower liter f150s. MPGs seem about the same, with the f150 performing better in towing and torque.

Need to do this anyways.

It is INSANE how strong that stuff is.

I removed a jack bracket from the body of a vehicle and it Torre the mounts through the body rather than the adhesive failing

My 2013 with the V6 has never gotten 15mpg. I think the engine is perfect for the truck (screw the mpg), and mated with the manual it's even better.

I didn't have any use for the f250 anymore so I figured I would get a truck I could use at the camp as a sxs also.

I did get 21 mpg out of my first tank. I'll have to see how the second tank goes after these KO2's were put on.

What kind of lift do you have on it?

A company, ovtuned, is about to come out with a tune for 2016 and up Tacomas.

Traded my 16 taco for a 16 4Runner. 6 speed trans was horrible. Shifted constanly, and was usually in way too high of a gear. Cruising at 40 mph in 6th is crazy. With the cruise set at 75, a slight incline would trigger a shift to 4th to make up 2 mph. I was getting 22.8mpg though. 2 recalls and a ton of TSBs, rattles all over the cab at 13k miles and I needed more room, so I dumped it.
Hope the 17 works for you.
