Yea. Think first weekend is gonna suck.
Second and third should be good. Cold front plus the full moon on the 16th which really helps.

Saw quite a few teal on the river. Still torn because I have a nice shooter buck coming out during the day. Early Teal and Bow Season open the same day here.

Since this is our unofficial off season thread, I just want to see if anyone paints there own decoys and had any thoughts on mallard Drake bill color. I started doing my own flocked heads and repaints last year. I think mine look pretty good, but I didn't do the bills last year. Now I'm trying to come up with a color mix for the bills. I use rustoleum hunter green, brown, white, and black for the bodies. I bought some rustoleum sunburst yellow and tried mixing in some green and white to match Drake bills. Here is a pic, the one on the right is my color mixture, and I put in an avain-x and GHG for comparison.

True! Seems like most of these bums don't work during teal season. I didn't see a single teal while hunting this weekend. Will try the geese again.

Looks like every spot I have has birds. Between Bay City, Anahuac, and Winnie,all are holding good concentrations. The main thing is how many times I can make it out without getting divorced or fired.
