I'm not sure if this is common but at least in that area, an east wind is terrible hunting. I don't even hunt around there when there is an east wind.

There were tons of birds, but none would set into the decoys. Dam wind was blowing into our faces. 
Just sucked the big one the way we where set.
Oh, we had our mojos. We ripped them suckers up fast. That was flaring the birds off before shooting time. Hell, we had birds everywhere due to the moon light before shooting time.
