I don't think I'm ever going to have the time to really get into duck hunting, so I won't bother starting another "beginner" thread. But if I wanted to just find a spot or two to hunt a handful of mornings each year what would I look for?

I have one place that I think holds a few woodies. I have access to a farm with a few ponds in open fields, and a lease with a canal that floods pretty easily. All of this is on the Northshore. Would it really just depend on proximity to the lake and waterways?

Can't take credit for this hole, but it sure is gorgeous. Buddy of mine who cleared it out

Great morning hunt from that little hole

Can you post the recipe for ducks you posted before. I saved it on my phone that took a swim on a duck hunt earlier and couldnt find it again.

Not near enough

We didn't shoot to good. Had 5 woodies and 2 teal. Only saw one flock of big ducks, group of grays that were high, gave us a quick look but that was it. It turned off completely after the first 45min to an hour. Most people I have talked to said its been slow in there all year except a handful of times, looks awesome, lots of feed, no birds.

Beautiful pics, especially the one with the birds hanging on the tree next to the water. Widgeon in second pics appears old, head is very white overall.

Band on hen does look a little unusual, unless it's the photos/angles. In the first pic the band looks more narrow at the top than the bottom. In the second pic the band looks sorta bent at an angle.

If the band looks like that in person I think it gives it character, making it even more of a prize. Congrats.
