Watch this. If several fly in, pick one out (based on your position in the blind) and shoot at him. Don't shoot in the direction at a group. It can be difficult on your first few shots, as it's rather exciting
Shoot 10-2 and not over anyone's head.
Good luck. Have fun. Bring your skeeter spray

Know how many shells you have in your gun at all times. Don't shoot out of your lane i.e. over someone's head.

wait for them to stop swimming before shooting.
NEVER head to the blind without ample TP and bug spray.

Go with someone that has been before or is an avid duck hunter if you can. Much to learn and enjoy.

Take your time and pick one bird

Remember you want the bead on your gun moving at the same exact speed as the duck when you pull the trigger. You have a muuuuch bigger margin for error when your gun barrel and the target are moving the same speed, rather than trying to pull the trigger when they "cross paths" so to speak.

I've never been either. I hear it's a blast

-Face paint is a must
-Do you have a duck call? If not, get one.. call as often as possible (lots of videos on youtube on how)
-Get decoys, alot of them..as many as you can haul in
-Get a drake jacket, and waders. They work the best
-If you have a dog, bring it
-Take lots of shells, shoot as much as possible. You wont kill them unless you're shooting. So dont think those ducks are too high... blast away!

A couple of weeks ago 8-10 greys came in.... Pow, Pow, click. Missed, dropped one, flock flew off. My friend was laughing at me when he shot 2 outta the flock with three shells.
20 minutes later, 15-20 teal popped up. I knocked down 2 and the flock flew off. Looked at him like wtf? He didn't even shoot because he forgot to load from the previous flock of greys.

Try to keep your head down.
I know it'll be hard not to look at ducks when they are working, but it's essential to stay concealed as much as possible.
Pay close attention to calling habits of your partner (I'm assuming he is a seasoned duck hunter) Watch/listen to the difference between hail, greeting, feeding, and close calling.
