taking the fam to toledo and staying at wildwood for memorial day. It looks like they have a fishing pier.

is it worth bringing a yak?
any perch jerkin guides you can recommend? (I know it's probably too late to book but still going to try.)
any other tips for fishing from the bank, pier, or yak?

thanks OB

Their is a hole in their pier and I have seen kids catch some sacs there. There is a great sacaulait area about 300 yards from the pier that you can yak to.

Stayed at Wildwood a couple years back. I brought my kayak and fished around nearby. Caught some decent bass. And as Janky said, there is a hole in the middle of the pier and we stayed up late nights drinking beer and filling ice chest with sacs. Good times.

I launched there once this spring since a guy I took fishing got one of their cabins that weekend. As others have said there is a good fishing pier, but the yak will open you up to a lot more areas. There is good bass fishing all around there, just follow the banks.

watermelon red senkos rigged Wacky and a top water bait are good for early morning and late evenings. for following the bank or shallow flats with a yak.

I don't discriminate. sacalait, bass, bream, catfish, barfish/whitebass.

If you find grass, you can catch perch on garland plastics, especially if the edge is deeper than 8'.

White beetlespin or road runner to catch any of the above.

For bass specifically, senkos or frogs would be a good baits to start with.

Get you a bucket of live shiners for sacalait and tight line them right off the pier.

If you can get into a school of barfish, you could have a blast throwing a rat-l-trap.

Bass, the options are plentiful. But as already stated, watermelon colored senkos are always a good option. Try topwater popper early in the morning. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits in shad colors. They feed heavily on shad, so you can't go wrong mimicking them.

Probably none down where I camp for Memorial day either. I fear my annual trip to TB will be a bust again.

oh, ok. There should be some grass down there. Next time I am up there I am going to go to the chicken coop and use my side scan to mark a bunch of brush piles.
