I have a kimber polymer target and a les baer premier tactiacl II. The kimber is a great shooting gun, but after shooting a les baer and feeling how "tight" everything is on the gun the kimber doesnt get used to much any more

Lot of kimber love on this board. I don't endorse the sentiment. Too high priced for what they are. My next one will be a les Baer.

And yes I love Drums and Guns. Got the name from a youtuber named nutnfancy who makes a lot of gun and knife videos. He always does run through gun courses which he calls RunNGuns

I'm very familiar with nutnfancy and his runNguns. He can be a bit too wordy for me at times but he cant be matched with the depth of his reviews.

I thought since my blazing fast double bass feet sound like a machine gun when playing 32nd notes and I love guns the play on words was too perfect.

Excellent reasoning if I do say so my self. My double pedal speed is a bit lacking but my hands more than make up for it.

His reviews on knives are pretty good, but after a while you figure out that a lot of his reviews are based on his personal biases. For instance, he insists on all of his knives having a shitload of jimping. It actually becomes kind of funny. I still subscribe, but some of the YT gun community thinks he pays for subscriptions and gets a cut from companies that he recommends.

To the OP, another option you might consider is Smith and Wesson. Not a lot of people have their 1911s, but those who do say good things. I have my eye on one of them when I get some money.

He always states that and says it's HIS OPINION. He always makes great points and I tend to agree with them. If you ever handle a Spyderco you realize how nice having jimping is.

No shot. I think his sincerity and unbiased reviews are transparent especially when he blasts a product from a company he loves. i.e. Recently tore the BLACKHAWK Knoxx Stock apart.

lol. I actually bought my current knife based on his review. On that knife, the blade and handle are jimped, but the locking mechanism which sits between the scales is not jimped. He pointed out that he wish it were more jimped which made me laugh. I agree that jimping is kind of nice, but considering that you already have a steep thumb ramp the jimping is not super necessary.

Just because his reviews are candid doesn't mean he isn't getting a cut from the companies to which he has a promo code and link on his channel homepage. I still watch his videos, but it is something to think about. Also, I like my other subscriptions if I really want to learn the ins and outs of a gun.

Enough about nutnfancy. Back to the 1911s.

Maybe a few hundred over, but if you want something different, shoots great, higher capacity, I highly recommend looking at the STI website before buying, they make traditional frame and high capacity lower frame 1911s in a number of calibers, bushing and bull barrel models, in a number of calibers. www.stiguns.com

taurus. Then you can add a few things and make it your own. I dont know why everyone dislikes taurus. Their 1911 line is just fine and comes with many extras built in. Great pistol.

I'd probably look at STI's first..... And don't not buy a 1911 because it doesn't have a ambi safety.. any decent gunsmith can install on for you after market easily.

No idea what they cost, but have you looked into a colt 1991? It's pretty much a 1911 with a different number stamped on it. I know a guy who had one (it got stolen) and he swears it was one of the better 1911 style guns he's fooled with.

I recently have started looking at the 1911's because you hear a ton about them and I want a new pistol but forgive my ignorance on the subject what is the draw of a 1911? I like the way they look, but it seems like there is a whole community that is in love with a 1911 and talk about other pistols as crap.

the tolerances on 1911 are probably among the highest of all firearms, in return you get a extremely smooth shooting firearm. take a Glock for example. a glock has loose tolerances to be able to shoot through dirt and grime and anything else you throw at it, thats why something like a Glock will feel "sloppy" to some people.
