I have waited on purchasing one due to some issues i heard when they first came out. Well the wife gets me a gun every year for christmas and im leaning toward getting one. Did they fix the issues? Also im not looking at the standard barrel im looking at the stainless heavy barrel. Thanks

Haven't had any issues with mine, I have an earlier version (not sure they have changed) the only thing with mine that others complained about was the barrel wasn't centered in the stock, but it is a free float barrel and wasn't touching so I didn't bother - although there are aftermarket stocks for them now as well - ammo can be hard to find, seems lately even harder than 22ammo....

I'd looked at them for a year or two, I wind up getting a .22 Mag.

Tack driver......if you are thinking of getting one I would start to collect some ammo, when I am out if I see any I will buy it, I have enough to play around/hunt with but it can be hard to find...

The original rifle (regular barrel) I bought had firing problems and it also did seem to have the accuracy issues some were reporting. Sent back to Savage and they sent me a replacement. Haven't had a problem out of the replacement. Also purchased a heavy barrel model to compare with the regular barrel and it has been fine. As others have said, finding ammo has been an issue at times.

I guess I was lucky because I have one of the first rifles and have had no problems. I also have a sizeable amount of the ammo. I have no complaints. I got rid of a 17HMR when I purchased the WSM

I love mine. It's one of the first ones, I wish I would've waited for the heavy barrel but I didn't know they had plans to make one when I bought mine. I put a bsa scope on it and it will drive tacks. I haven't had any issues with it. I shopped around and found one where the barrel looked centered in the stock. Ammo was hard to find so when I found a bunch I bought it all and haven't gone through it yet. I haven't shot the 20gr ammo yet, only the 25gr.

You'll be happy to know my WSM does not have a Zeiss scope on it.

I've had mine for about a year now. Out of the box, after zero session,1/2 moa at 100 yds. Then, impact started drifting towards one o'clock. Let barrel cool down, back to zero point. After a while, drifting again. Upon removal of stock at home, discovered that the cradle of the fore end was "humpbacked" in the center. As barrel heated up, it pressed against the fore end causing the point of impact drift. Filed down the hump in the cradle to achieve clearance for free float. No more drift. Thinking about a Boyds stock also. I agree......tack driver!

For now I'm sitting on the fence waiting to see another manufacturer enter the arena both in a gun and ammo. This thing could end up going the way of the 5mm Remington. That no one else has climed on board is speaking volumes.
