Picked up the cz 512 carbine a couple months ago. Love it so far, the factory sights are nice!

I can tell you that a .17 hmr will dang near punch thru a 1/4 steel .22 target.
I would love to see what a head shot would do to a pig.

Mach 2 is still being made but only by CCI for Hornady. Keep checking Academy Outdoors website and other suppliers also. Maybe only two runs a year of the ammo. I get at least a brick every run.

Yeah, 17 M2 ammo is usually very hard to find. I have bunch left over from a ground squirrel hunt a few yrs. ago. Last winter I lucked up on some at a local store and bought 5 boxes. It's a wonderful round to play w/, especially for tree squirrel hunting. When we go squirrel hunting w/ a dog, it's required that someone bring a 17 M2.

Now that Remington has stopped making it, I've read that CCI actually makes ALL the 17 M2 manufactured in the US, including Federal, Win and Hornady. Nevertheless, they don't all shoot the same in my gun.

Funny how that is.. my 17hmr will only shoot winchester ammo good... my mach 2 shoots the hornady. And i best not try a hornady in my hmr, it shoots HORRIBLE groups

you guys think finding 22mag ammo is hard, you oughta try finding ammo for a 22 Hornet.
AS far as the 17, I own 74 guns and my Savage 17HMR is the favorite out of all of them. Deadly accurate, shoots great.

I have dropped tons of hogs 40# and under in their tracks on head shots with my 17hmr.

Was at academy in Snellville, Ga yesterday and they were covered up in 22, 22 mag, 17 her. Most I've seen of all three in one place in years.
For poster who wrote 22 hornet is scarce is not looking. Always in at academy, cabelas, and online everywhere. The American Eagle stuff is almost one jagged hole at 100 yes out of my 77/22
