Good luck to all braving the elements today. I said, “to hell with the deer and ducks for this season!”

Be safe bro. These are the conditions that even experienced duck hunters can make a misstep in.

I'm toting this amazing little heater elk hunting next year. I love it. I'm completely comfortable right now and not dressed like an Eskimo by any means. It's great

Location: couch
Conditions:: 70* and light breeze from ceiling fan
Firearm: coffee mug

I didn’t even set the alarm when I went to bed. I’m tied up next weekend and will hunt this afternoon, mainly to mark the end of this absolutely awful, terrible season.

I don’t know if it’s the residual effects of last summers drought or what but this is one of the worst seasons in years. I stopped by Vines in Centreville yesterday and the guy behind the meat counter said they’ve processed 25% of the deer they normally do.

Hopefully there’s a post-season analysis thread when season is over.

Yesterday was worse. Wind was stronger and much more consistent. I still have yet to figure out how to keep my toes from freezing

I’ve been walking in with thin, athletic socks and my boots. Right before I start to climb, I’ll take the boots off and put on some thermal socks. But the boots back on and it’s so much better.

Didn’t hunt this morning. But heading back up to look for the deer my buddy stuck with a bow yesterday and couldn’t find. We have a guy coming to meet us with a dog.

Plus I think, hope, pray I left my work backpack with my computer and my entire life in it.

That’s so odd, because we saw more deer this year than I can remember in over a dozen years of hunting this property (central MS). And for sure we’ve never seen racks like this year.

I expected what you said, that the drought would be an issue, but although they were awfully skinny from the time I put cameras up in September until the acorns started dropping, pretty much every doe we saw had a baby with her. I have no idea on the antler growth, other than we put out protein for the first time last February.

IKT. Cooking lasagna, watching Ferrari vs Ford, fixing to pop a top. Friend of mine got a lottery hunt at White Lake. There was another group also hunting the property. Nada, zilch, the big egg for he and his daughter and the other group.

Downshift, that buddy heater in a Kodiak canvas tent is a lifesaver. We were camped at 10,000’ in Colorado, single digit temps, and a foot of snow. The heater made it reasonably comfortable inside the tent.
