I've been watching the MODIS imagery coming in and we're going to get a passover in the next few hours.. here's hoping it's crystal clear.

Why would the surface area not look any different in size (or if anything actually look smaller overall), between the April 25 photo and the May 1 one?

Are they really getting that much of it up?

I've been wondering this too. I feel like the actual size of the thing hasn't grown or changed much.

I don't understand currents.......is there any real current on the top? I mean if this really is just a "sheen," it can't really move that quickly can it?

ahhhhhhh okay. I was worried that there was a front that was going to make keeping this shite away difficult.

the modis aqua satellite is still due for a pass pretty soon, but it hasn't been picking up the oil sheen as well as the terra one (the one I just linked)

Based on the current models we should get some excellent shots this afternoon and tomorrow. However, based on the current visible it looks like that front is still lingering

That is a good one. I didn't even think to look in the sticky. I've been working off data we are getting from our over flights and never got around to looking at MODIS yesterday.
