I remember when my aunt used to live back there in the early 80's. Was a damn nice neighborhood.

You should have moved there and been the prince!

Yep, in 6 years, BBC will be doing this same story on the Park Forest/Monticello area.

Take a look at the apartments east of Belaire High and you'll see why that area is a complete shithole now.

Wonder how much of the issues are home grown in BR and how many are from Katrina?

These areas were complete shitholes long before Katrina.

If someone would burn down all the section 8 housing...would anything bad come from it?

This is what makes impossible for people to stay and fight for their community.

I really hate when people point to Katrina as a major cause of BR's crime problem. It's completely misguided. The crime problem here is completely home-grown, and years in the making. Think about it. Katrina was 9yrs ago. So a 9yr old growing-up in the bad areas in 2005 is now an 18yr old with a rap sheet. BR didn't end-up with that many permanent transplants after the storm.

should be section 8 cities. Moving them into well areas is disastrous for the communities they forcefully try to assimilate.

As soon as I see the Shenandoah area going down, I'll be putting my Prairieville house up for sale. I'm staying one step ahead....

Well, where would you put everybody? They have to go somewhere. New Orleans had to face this problem after they demolished the housing projects. Thugs who had grown-up in the projects were now dispersed all over the city.

Wait...I have a perfect idea...section 8 islands.

Giant Manmade islands...or Greenland or something like that.

If they want to live for free, they are welcome to go there and get their Food stamps and live however they want.

Yes - no doubt, but there definitely was a hardcore multiplier effect post NOLA refugees.

For example take a terd, it is stinky on its own.

But then wrap that terd in hair and light it on fire, that will definitely amp up the smell intensity....

Aren't there tons of cheap houses in Detroit?
I'm sure some of our generously donated taxpayer money could go to relocate them.

Yep. Everyone on the westbank was ecstatic when the Fischer Projects were demolished but now the thugs are spread all over the area.
