Your ideal home (architecture)

As an architect, I am always curious as to what people refer in regards to the aesthetic style of their home. Many clients have come to me and expressed their dislike for the current house in and around the ATX area and that they wanted to work with me to design their ideal home.
I always followed up with, "Why don't you like the home you are in?" Generally, the responses boiled down to two avenues: 1.) They didn't like the house to begin with. They purchased it for other (valid) reasons such as resale value, school districts, property taxes, proximity to work. 2.) With the boom in Austin, we've had developmental companies buy properties and build kitschy communal housing/HPR's. People bought in to be in a certain neighborhood and (usually, 5-8 years later) they are now ready to get out.
So, that said, from strictly curb appeal, what style of home do you like most?
My personal favorite is the rustic French provincial. It stands the test of time. It is stately without being overly gaudy. Yet, it is still warm and inviting. Some examples:

I would greatly appreciate it if you used this thread to teach us about common styles.

That looks like chicken's home in River Oaks.
My ideal home wouldn't be seen from a curb.

Not architecturally proficient so I don't know what the style is but I always wanted to live in the Brady house. Mike's design was perfect. No really the Brady house.

I'm a huge fan of Frank Lloyd Wright and how he flowed the outside to the interior and used surrounding materials. There isn't nearly enough of this type.

Agree. I'd ask someone what style house they built and once I see the house. I'm thinking to myself that's not what I was thinking that style would look like

My favorite style is the pueblo revival style homes you find throughout Santa Fe.

I want an underground vault. With land mines in my yard
Screw neighbors wanting to borrow tools only to never be seen again and unwanted visitors
Edit: but I don't want natural grass above it. I want turf. Screw cutting an entire lot with no house. And I'll be the fun house on the street that kids will play football on because it's turf and it looks like an empty lot
Edit2: I forgot about the landmines
Oh well

I am a modern type of guy. All types. Currently building a house in a cookie cutter sub (for school zone reasons) but finished it out with white countertops, dark hardwoods, white walls, metal light fixtures, etc. I love the classic mid century modern houses. Could spend time in Palm Springs just or the houses.

Also have interest in basic/historical/sustainable homes. Cobb, rammed earth, etc is an interesting topic.
