Tommy Lucchese.Grew up with Lucky Luchiano and Meyer Lansky.

Through Loan Sharking he gained control of the Garment District. The trucking for it.The Garment Cutters Union. And the Kosher Butchers Union.

One his daughters married Tommy Gambino. They still have great control over the Garment District.

He spent a few months in jail as a teenager for stealing a car.

Never went back again.

We had a guy at work once that had some foot condition so he wore slippers around the office. I nicknamed him The Chin, it stuck.

For real though, how about John Gotti for how to bring down the mob by becoming a public figure? The reality shows that have ensued prove that the Sopranos was more real life than comedic.

The Philly crime family was an absolute joke after Scarfo was put away.

Disagree. The Philly mob went down the toilet the day Scarfo took over. His violence, craving for the limelight, and using a 20th Century model to run a 21st Century crime organization broke the whole thing apart.

"Mad" Sam DeStefano:

In another incident, Peter Cappelletti, a collector for DeStefano, fled Chicago with $25,000 from a loan shark victim. DeStefano's men located Cappelletti in Wisconsin and brought him back to Chicago. DeStefano chained Cappelletti to a radiator and tortured him for three days. While a banquet was going on, Cappelletti was secretly being tortured in the back of the restaurant. "Kill me man, please, I'm on fire!" Cappelletti implored, to which DeStefano replied "Then we need to put the fire out" before having his men drag the severely burned Cappelletti into the dining area and forcing the man's family to urinate on him in unison. Following the banquet, the family quickly paid back the stolen money.[7]

This is correct but the Philly mob started it's downward spiral when the killed Angelo Bruno.

But at least money was being made after Bruno. When they put Scarfo away they became an absolute laughing stock to New York gangsters. Joey Merlino is a joke

In the eyes of the NY families/gangsters, everybody else was a joke.

Gosh, this board sure knows its mobsters.

But I feel that my ancestors–the Irish–have not received sufficient tribute in this thread. I mean, we're as depraved as anyone else out there, including dem Italianos.

So, here's to Dean O'Banion, who started Chicago's North side mob, and whose murder in 1924 led to a long gang war that culminated in the St. Valentine's Day Massacre.

Erin go bragh!

As an Irishman, I'm simply acknowledging some of the signal contributions my people have made to this great nation: bootlegging, loan sharking, extortion, gambling, prostitution and on and on.

And what, pray tell, have your people–whoever they are–done for God and Country? I imagine you come from a line of coppers, gum shoes, revenue men and other degenerates.
