Joe Valachi- in the end, he said...frick it! They can only kill me once. I'm clearing my conscience.

Hymie Weiss- even Capone was afraid of him and so am I.

The Philly crime family was an absolute joke after Scarfo was put away.

Favorite is a wrong choice. The mob was, and still is, comprised of predators preying on innocent people.

I do find the mob extremely interesting though. More movies about the factual events should be made.

I read some of the book on Kuklinski, couldn't even finish it bc of how disturbing that shite was. He was truly the most vicious serial killer/hitman that ever lived. He truly enjoyed it

They may not have killed innocent people but they extorted and stole a ridiculous amount of money from innocent people. Predator is the right word for 95% of mobsters. I think a lot of thier business was just giving people the means to do what the government wouldn't ie gambling, drugs, liqour but to act like the only people who were effected by the enterprises weren't civilian is inaccurate.

I think after Carlos Marcello died, there wasn't really an official successor

Anthony Carollo was the successor to Carlos, he died in '07. There is some debate as to who took over for him.

Any of his descendants still in NO ? If so, do they have any power there?

Yes, to your first question, his name is Joe Marcello.

Not sure how much power he has, but I do know that he is in the waste disposal business, among other things.

You're right, now that you mention his name, I think I remember reading about him. Thanks for the clarification!

The Feds have put so many made guys away, and a bunch of other made guys flipped on the ones who were incarcerated, so La Cosa Nostra's back is broken, although it still exists on a much smaller level.

True, plus RICO laws have really weakened organized crime in general.

But I'd have to say Luciano and Carlo Gambino.

Michael Franzese - biggest earner in mob history

Phil Leonetti - looked like Ray Liotta in Goodfellas. Interesting life story with Scarfo as his uncle

Henry Hill - majestic mob career. Lots of great stories beyond Goodfellas
