He was hit.
Sadly, it happens all the time. It's got to the point where if I see someone on a side road about to pull out onto the road I'm riding, I just assume they don't see me.

Day I agreed to move to Dallas with my college gf after graduation.

The day I got married. Unfortunately, I wouldn't find that this was my moment until 7 years later.

Lived in New Hampshire for a year. Rolling towards a 3 way intersection a minute into my commute, I hit the brakes for the red light and the ice slide begins.
I'm making a right and turning the wheel right as I'm sliding towards a nice BMW that's in the left lane. He is a badass mofo because he sees me sliding and hits the gas. My SUV slides right in behind him in the left lane maybe a foot away from clipping his bumper.
SUV gains traction perfectly in lane as if I did it all on purpose

Watching the reaction of the admit staff at the ER when I went in complaining of abdominal pain. Did not ask for insurance and did not ask for any paperwork at all. Was seeing a doctor in the first 5 minutes and a surgeon within 20 minutes. Blown and rotted appendix, 3.5 hours of surgery and 7 days in the big house.
From then on, my measurement an emergency room visit is: If they tell you to take a seat, you're probably gonna be ok.

gotcha. This thread reminds me of something that came across my FB feed last night. Someone posted this screen print. Look at the comment...
I did some looking and found the original story...

CORPUS CHRISTI - The medical examiner's office has confirmed a woman involved in Sunday's motorcycle crash on Saratoga has died from her injuries.Lorraine Villarreal was a passenger when Wayne Fowler Sr. lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid a minivan making a u-turn.Corpus Christi PD says the driver did not see the motorcycle. Both Fowler and Villarreal were thrown from the bike during the crash.
Lindy's glad she's dead.

Looking down the wrong end of a.44.
Getting shot at w/ a shotgun.
Numerous car situations.
The biggest though was holding may baby daughter for the first time.
Time to grow up...

Did the infamous "reply all."
Wasn't pretty, but didn't get fired.

The day I let my dog go outside.
I had a schnauzer I let outside, unattended for a couple of minutes, came back out to hear him howling. He had gone to the creek basically in our back yard and an alligator got him.

180 degree hydroplane slide arcoss a lane of oncoming traffic into a parallel parking spot on the side of the road (sandwiched between two parked cars). I was so confused.

Sitting under a tree deer hunting when I heard what I thought was a deer behind me . If you've never heard a Mountain Lion scream then you wouldn't understand how Uh oh that was . Of all the bad situations I've been in , this was the worst of all .

When I first started at fire dept we had a call stating a bad wreck on interstate. I had just got done cleaning back of ambulance out and left stretcher out for floor to dry. Run came in and I shut doors and didn't pay attention, pulled up on scene and walked to back to get stretcher out, only there was no stretcher in there. Thankfully we dispatched 2 ambulances and another one pulled in. Also thankfully, only 1 patient was being transported. Been on dept 11 years and that's only time I've been written up, plus I got cussed like a dog, deservedly so. I had been there maybe a month at the time.

When I heard a clanking noise on my Bradley Fighting vehicle and had no clue what it was. I ask my driver "What the hell is that noise". His response, "someone is shooting at us!" It was very funny later but not at that time.

Lady pulled out across traffic in front of me while I was doing about 65. No time to hit my brakes, actually had the gas pedal shoved back so hard into my foot from the impact that it caused a hairline fracture of my tibia. Airbags did their job, but I can still remember every detail of the impact in slow motion. After that, I was sent rolling into oncoming traffic in the opposite lanes. Could've been real bad.
