not gonna lie, that sounds fricking awesome

I really enjoyed driving through the Chattahoochee Mountains last year. I fly most places so I don't have too many true "road trips."

I did a road trip to Charleston that was pretty fun.

I'm much more of the mindset that I would rather fly to wherever I'm trying to get to than take my time on the road, but I get the appeal of a road trip.

My parents are currently on a road trip, actually headed toward Charleston now. They have made stops in:

Chattanooga, Charlottesville, Boston, Newport, Niagra Falls, Montreal, Quebec City, Portland (Maine), somewhere in the mountains in Virginia, now Charleston, then back home. They're having a great time but that's too much driving for my taste.

well, for family vacations, my family would go on 2-3 month long road trips all over the US every summer, so those were all awesome

the ones to Glacier were particularly awesome

but then in college, every spring break, my friends would road trip to New Mexico to ski, and we would often sleep in the parking lots of hotels along the way because we were too poor/cheap to pay for hotel rooms

I'm with you there. I enjoy some time in a vehicle seeing different states and nice scenery, but I'd rather not be in a vehicle that long...unless someone else is driving an RV and I'm partying in the back

In college drove from Monroe to Boston to see a concert that Don Henley puts on for Walden Woods every year. Saw Melissa Ethridge, Sting, Elton John, Aerosmith, Jimmy Buffet and Don Henley. Even got to see Clemens pitch from the center field bleachers at Fenway........ I miss the summer of '93

I like to do long trips in the car, because when you get to your destination, you can be more mobile.

My favorite so far has been a 2 week trip that started with a drive from Atlanta to Cheyenne, WY (via St Louis and Lincoln). After a few days in Cheyenne at Frontier Days, we went south to Rocky Mountain NP, Boulder and Denver, then west to Bryce Canyon, Vegas and Grand Canyon before heading home on 40 to Memphis and back to Atlanta via Birmingham.

That's a hell of a lineup. That's a long drive up to Boston but I can see it being worth it to see most of those names.

I just rent a car or if I'm in a major city utilize Uber/cabs.

Took us 32 hours to get up there, stopped in DC for an hour or so. It was me and a girl I knew, with a couple who was friends of ours . We later decided that if we could stand one another for that long in a car we might as well start dating and have now been married for 20 years

Houston to Vail, CO and back for Spring Break 2006, my senior year of high school, with my uncle and cousin. So much went down that we still talk about it to this day.

-We went to a Dairy Queen in Quanah, TX and only 2 people were working, one supervisor and an employee and it was her first day. Then an entire little league baseball team with their parents and siblings came in, about 50 or 60 of them, and all wanted to order. It was sad that only 2 people were working(it was about 30 minutes before they closed) and of course the parents pitched hissy fits because of the slow service. What did they expect? We felt so bad for the 2 employees and did what we could to help them.

-We stopped on the side of the road slightly north of Amarillo and slept until the sun came up.

-About 30 minutes later near Dumas, TX my uncle got pulled over for going 90 MPH. It was about 6:30am on a Sunday Morning. He asked the cop if he has anything better to do than pull people over in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday Morning and we got off with a warning

-Nearly hit a dog in the middle of the road near Dalhart, TX/Texline, TX. From a distance it looked like a polar bear, but as we got closer it was a big white dog. Had to slam the brakes in my uncle's navigator and almost hit the thing as it just stared at us like it was no big deal.

-Me and my cousin were kicked out of a breakfast restaurant called All Seasons in Raton, NM because we were drinking the complimentary glasses of water set out for unseated tables. We waited in the parking lot for about an hour as my uncle proceeded to buy about 100 bumper stickers from the gift shop.

-Drove aimlessly around Trinidad, CO trying to find a good location to get a shot of the Twin Spanish Peaks. By the time we found a good location, a snowstorm came in and we couldn't even see the mountains.

-Stopped at an A&W/KFC in Denver and my cousin and I got a bucket of chicken while my uncle ordered a burger from the A&W. The burger was literally the size of a small coaster and he complained to the management who wouldn't give him a refund. It was laughably small.

-The snow was coming down hard by the time we got into the mountains and the traffic going into the mountains was bad. There was a huge pileup on the runaway truck ramp full of trucks that lost control to make matters worse.

-We finally got to our hotel in Vail and sprinted to our room as soon as we could, to watch the NCAA tournament selection show. It had started right as we turned on the TV with the matchup of Duke playing Southern.

Road trip with 4 college buddies to Omaha for CWS in 09. Instead of getting a hotel, we stayed at a camp ground for $9 each for the entire 4 days we were there. Went to two games, the zoo, had Omaha steaks, and camped. The drive was long, but well worth it.
