I'll be looking for a place soon too with a similar budget. I'll most likely have a roommate though.

Is this a thing?

frick yeah, garden district apartments are the tits. Walk to overpass bars, no DWI risk. And once a year in March, BR's best day is in your front yard.

I really don't need much space. Most of the houses I've looked at are 3 BR/2 bath and I don't want a roommate. I'm moving out of that situation now. A small house or garage apartment would be perfect or even half a duplex, but that's more Nola style than BR.

Christian Street Condominiums or Hollydale Condominiums are right in the heart of what you want, but I think they average 1300. Hollydale may be in your price range. They are older but still nice and in the area you want.

Hollydale

This might suit you. 2 bedroom 1.5 bath
$950

Cypress Lake Apartments

Not the newest, but good management, well maintained, allows pets, plenty of place to exercise them to.

And you can definitely get a 1BR for under $1,000

There are a bunch of 2/1 houses in Southdowns. Drive around and look. I also got a few leads by looking at who's house was for sale for longer than a year. I called them up and asked if they'd be willing to rent. A couple were, but most not. Worth a shot

. I am looking at the Riverview Condos tomorrow, but I haven't been able to get any reviews on them.

On River Road? There are two next to each other, and I can't remember which Zealot lived in when he lived in BR, but his was nice.

Rent a house in capital heights or Southdowns. A bunch of landlords would like to rent their places to exactly your type. There are a few houses around for $1100/mo, and you might be able to negotiate. Mine was originally $1350, and I got it down to $1250 by offering to cut the grass instead of having someone come do it

I got a steal. 2 bedroom house with central AC in Garden District for $850/month. My landlord even bought a new gas oven/stove when I moved in just because one burner igniter was out.

Just moved from there because I found a condo even cheaper (shocking, I know), but my landlord was willing keep that price over the years as other places have gone up because it makes for long-lasting tenants.

I was only thinking of the ones connected to Jimmy John's and all that.

I forgot about the ones by Ivar's. You don;t have to sell me on the GD. I lived on S Eugene for awhile and that was such a badass area. That was a sad move out day

Anyone live in park place? More expensive but includes everything except electrical. Reviews say thin walls?
