We have two young kids at home, my oldest is going to be 7 in two months

This has been a rough school year for her. Her teacher, gym coach, and others have expressed her having a rough time following instructions, staying focused and never sitting still.

She's having difficulties in doing homework and staying on task

Wife and I have always been hesitant on pointing the finger at ADHD and throwing a pill at the issue, however we are starting to wonder if we are doing her a disservice by not getting help.

It's really a tough call. We love having a joyful, fun 6 year old, but how do we know medication couldn't do wonders for her?

Anyone have any experience with meds and diagnosing a young child?

TIA

Introduce her to more structure at home and avoid giving her processed sugar bullshite all of the time and you'll most likely be able to avoid doping up your child's developing brain

Children shouldn't be sitting at attention for several hours at a time - they're fricking children. Our education system totally denies the reality of what it means to be a young person.

How much exposure to technology - competes, tablets, iPads, etc. is she on? I see this as the major correlating factor in diagnosing this.

Get her checked out by a child psychiatrist to see if she has ADHD.

i take vyvanse (I'm 28) and am shocked at how frequently young kids are prescribed this stuff. My nephew who is ten has been on it since like 6.

I can tell you, as someone who has taken it for nearly a year, kids on ADD medicine are basically walking around all day jacked up, high as frick.

That's how I feel at least. It helps me do my work, for sure. But, there is no denying it makes you high

Try moving to 10mg generic adderall.

When I took it in college I was not a fan. It made me feel nauseous, maybe because it was XR. I've been on 10 mg adderall for 5 years now and never have issues. This small dosage helps me start my day. The only thing I dislike about having it is friends and GF always asking for some.

70mg vyvanse seems to do the trick while I'm taking engineering courses at Auburn. I don't like the jitteriness of adderall. It's pathetic, I don't even have ADD, but I really need the extra help to get all the shite done they expect me to do.

For real: my daughter is a different person after eating something with Red #40 in it (hint - is everywhere)

Try looking at her snacks and see if it's there.

I'm ADD as hell. I'll caution you with this. I've been prescribed various version of adderall all my life. In elementary school, it bumped me out. In college, it helped out tremendously. But the last time I took adderall, something snapped. I've had depression forever but it'd let up for awhile. This last time I took adderall was one of the blackest moods I've ever been in. Won't take that shite again.

what are they eating?

frity pebbles and capt crunch are not good breakfast items, you do know that, right?

I'd of been feeding them vitamins and minerals every chance I got, no white salt, no white sugar, no milk but rice milk, no white bread , even whole wheat these days is suspect...damn shame too.

ever think to do a hair test on them?

everyone needs to read the entire doc, from stem to stern...senatedocument264 dot com, you'll see why.

hope you figure it out
