Crazy. So you know how we all know that one guy who says he never ever ever broke the law......point this out.
quote:
Based on the 1935 copyright registration, Warner claimed that the United States copyright will not expire until 2030, and that unauthorized public performances of the song are illegal unless royalties are paid to Warner. In one specific instance in February 2010, these royalties were said to amount to US$700

He wasn't breaking the law unless he recorded the song and tried to sell it, or was paid to sing it at a birthday party
You aren't breaking the law when regurgitating a movie line or singing in your car

Not true. It's now in public domain. Warner did so when it settled a lawsuit three years ago.

Public performance. Singing at an open.venue.

What if we sang it in a video where my little brother caught on fire when trying to blow out his candles and won $10,000 on America's Funniest Videos?

So did they sue Marilyn Monroe?

Disney is fricking up our IP law. Set your watches. The second Mickey is in danger of entering the public domain, Congress will just change the period again.

It is no longer copyrighted. There was a ruling made on this a while back. It's now public domain.

IIRC this is why Chilis, Hooters and other restaurants make up their own birthday song
