Yellowstones a bit more family friendly. More things to do and see. Jackson hole being right there, grand Tetons, Cody. Hot springs to get in and tons of animals to see. Could raft with no problem.

Yosemite is better overall. Better hiking, better waterfalls, better trees. It's open in the spring, just backroads aren't necessarily open yet. It's more beautiful than Yellowstone but can be insanely crowded in summer. Springs a great time to go.

To each their own but I throughly disagree with your second paragraph. Yellowstone is the better park and if combine it with Tetons (extremely easy to do) then imo unquestionably the better trip.

You need at least 8-10 days in yellowstone to get anywhere close to seeing everything you want to.

you could have a month and not see everything lol

However the Tetons are awesome in their own right and it's a very easy way to hit two great parks in one trip

Eta: the wildlife in Yellowstone is so much better than yositmitee if that's something that op is interested in

What the best lodging scenario for a week at Yellowstone for 2 adults and 2 teenagers? Rent a cabin/condo in Yellowstone West?

Yeah probably so. Canyon just tore down their cabins and will have brand new ones this year and finished up next so those would be nice to stay in for a couple nights and it's a pretty central location. You have to stay in old faithful inn one night, one of the nicest hotels in America. Mammoth is pretty nice, I only went inside once but it looked pretty nice. Lake hotel was also being renovated last year and looked pretty nice, make sure to eat at Lake, by far the best view of the restaurants. Roosevelt is more rustic and they have cabins still, more of the western feel to it, even as far as the restaurant. They're the one place that severs southern style food. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, burgers. West has plenty of hotels and other places to stay but you need to book now. Especially old faithful inn.

And don't be afraid to bring a tent and camp for a night... It's kinda surreal having buffalo walk through while you're cooking s'mores.

yeah first week I was there I was listening to some music in my headphones sitting at the employee picnic tables and one comes up behind me and I didn't see it. I got up and I startled it and it about scared the shite outta me. Was about 3 feet from it and had no clue.

At least. I was stunned not only by its beauty, but how big it is when I first went. And that's not including all of the other stuff in the area like Jackson Hole and Grand Teton N.P.

2.28 million acres. If you're a fan of hiking you have to do the mr bubbles trail when you're there. It's a 3 day hike for the whole thing, but more than worth it. 28 miles and the scenery is beautiful. About halfway there's a natural hot spot you can get in that's about 103 degrees. Amazing break from hiking.

Tahoe is pretty, but Yosemite is epic. Both super crowded in the summer. Get an early start.

If I only had a day I would do Mariposa grove in the morning, then hit the Glacier point trial from Taft point around to Sentinal Dome. Long day but amazing.

Would you guys recommend Yosemite or Tahoe if I only was able to spend a day and night either place? Going to a conference in SF next month and wanted to check the area out

I went to Yosemite last week and was fairly disappointed after visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon the days before. The drought in Cali has really done a number on the waterfalls and they are rather lacking. It's also crowded as hell and their shuttle buses pretty much suck compared to all the other major parks I've been to. I've never been to Tahoe, but I'd suggest another year (and earlier in the year for better waterfall flow) for Yosemite.
