I dont have a problem getting cabs in BR. Never had a problem in NOLA either.

Out of the hundreds of times Ive gotten in a cab, ive only had 3 bad experiences to be honest.

I dont care what people think of it i feel it will actually make cab services better in cities Uber is in. Adds competition.

Read up on Uber folks. Most modern cities in this country offer this shite and it is awesome.

It is awesome. I've never ridden in a bad vehicle or had an issue with a driver, and I've used Uber weekly for 8 months or so

There is almost no cab service in Detroit and it's impossible to get around if you're hammered. Had a friend come in from out of town and he was calling us cars all night using Uber service. I couldn't believe how well it worked.

I've the hundreds of times I've cabbed in my life, I can't recall a single instance that stood out and as a GOOD experience.

I've used Uber a dozen+ times, and I'm amazed everytime.

I used it in Houston Tuesday. Opened the app, clicked come get me, then immediately sent a txt to the driver that we were inside the bar finishing our drink and to txt as he's pulling up. He txts me, we walk outside and in 8 minutes we are at our final destination.

No money exchanged hands, I could track his gps on the app to see exactly where he was in relation to the bar. The fare cost $7.50 with tip.

I mean how can anyone not see this is light years ahead of our current systems?

So you'd rather call someone instead of open an app and click a button?

Haha, are you trolling? I pull up the Uber app and it shows me 5 cars around me and how long it'll take each to get here. Then I pick one, it gives me the guy's name, his car type, his photo and his cell number. I can see where he is on the map while I wait.

It's really not even comparable.

Recently had my first experience with Uber in Baltimore, and it's also in Atlanta. It was great and easy. No need to carry cash. It's mostly done through the app on your phone. The cars are nice and clean, the drivers courteous and prompt, and you feel like you don't feel like you're in a cab.

I like it so much, that when I saw it wasn't in New Orleans, I started searching on how to invest/franchise to get it there.

i wasnt really talking about the act of contacting a particular service. just talking about how im pleased with the cab situation in BR for the most part and that this new service cant be that much better in terms of getting me home for a low cost

FWIW, Uber got a valuation of 17-18 billion dollars today.

Pretty good for a cab alternative.

Uber is more expensive than a traditional cab but by far a better overall experience

Depends on the options. Uber X and Uber Taxi are very similar to cabs, if not cheaper. In my experience UberX is much cheaper than a cab for a short ride.

Me and a buddy hitchhiked from LSU avenue/highland rd to get into South Downs the other nigh and got a ride from some random girlt. We didn't even bother with a cab. If uber came we would have background checked drivers? Sign a brotha up. frick yellow cab.

Everything I read about Uber makes me think it is a car service at the price of a cab.

Sign me up (which I am)

I take a car service every time it is available. Nothing better.
