It's lame because you're trying to defend someone who needs no defense. It's also lame because of the actions that you're defending.
I have defended nobody or no action. I don't even like Mrs. butter on a stick. Ive just said that to call someone out with moral outrage for something she did 25 years ago, and not hold yourself to the same level of disdain is both dishonest and makes the outrage worthless.
If you can go back 25 years and say at no point in that time have you said anything racial, never used a word out of the heat of the moment, never a joke, or said something in jest that might be offensive to another race, culture, religion, etc, then you are either Christ, or are almost certainly full of ever loving shit, or maybe, giving you the benefit of the doubt, you really honestly don't remember that instance where you blew it.
People say things when they are furious without thinking on it that is meant to hurt, and it's usually the one thing they think hurts the most. The first thing that comes to mind is almost certainly coming out of your mouth, and for those who were raised with a word being commonplace in society, it's coming out at some point.
Thanks God most of our jobs don't hinge on something we uttered 25 years ago, or we would all be fricked, and you know it.
