I actually worked at both in High school. Like anywhere, how much you like or hate the job comes down in a large part to the boss and co-workers. Both are easy work.

FWIW, I'd take the job in the nicer part of town.

If this is a HS job, Baskin Robbins. Better hours and cuter girls as co-workers and customers.

If this is a for real job, take the money at Kroger's. You can't afford to date so who cares what the talent looks like.

Looking back at it, the ice cream place was more fun. We were mostly in high school, and they let me (a high schooler at the time) be a night manager. So yeah, we fooled around quite a bit.

So basically go for Baskin Robins if picking up women is more important and Kroger if $$$ is more important?

Kroger's will probably have at least a couple of attractive cashiers. Work hook ups can be awesome. It's more money and more hours. So Kroger

Would you rather work at Baskin Robins(in a decent part of town) for 29 hours a week for $7.25 or Kroger's (in a bad part of town) for 34 hours a week for $7.75 an hour

A lot of females visit ice cream shops, so that's a plus. Then again, the pay is less and you're likely to gain a good bit of weight from sampling the goods from time to time.

If you're willing to take a job that pays less than $8/hour then I would assume that money is not that much of a concern.

Take the sweet gig, pun intended, in the non-ghetto part of town.

It's about 25% more pay per week for 5 hours. If the travel distance to work doesn't eat up extra money then you should put on that Kroger's apron sonny.

ETA: That's about $200 more per month for you "friend of a friend".

Kroger

This was my first job ever. I bagged groceries and fetched carts in the parking lot during the 100 degree summer days. My co-workers were decent, but the managers were pricks.

Give me Baskin Robbins by default.

I worked at Baskin Robbins and Alberstons. BR was much better. Free ice cream. But I was 16 and 17 years old at the time.

I worked at Baskin Robbins in high school, but in a "less desirable" part of town. I also worked at a grocery store in a good part of town. I'd still prefer Baskin Robbins, but it wasn't exactly a good job even for a high school student. At the location where I worked, the owner did all of the weekday shifts, and his employees would come in at 5 and work the evening shift all the way through closing (10pm + about 30-45 minutes of cleaning, counting and depositing money in the safe, etc). We'd also work weekends, and all employees were required to work on Sundays (busiest day of the week and often involved more after-hours cleaning putting us leaving after 11pm on a school night).

There was also this magical time of year called "free scoop night," where all employees were required to work, and it was hours of non-stop freeloaders (because remember I said this was in a less desirable part of town). I assume the point of free scoop night was to attract more customers, who might "upgrade" their one-scoop sundae to a two-scoop or buy something else along with it, i.e. actually spend some money. Of course, the reality of it was a line wrapped around the building and a mostly empty till at the end of the night.

At 30+ hours won't Kroger offer health care? That's why BR is at 29
