Are you of color or not?

Houston
Atlanta is too much like Dallas where image is everything
Houston is a lot more laid back

I've lived in both. Loved Atlanta, hated Houston.
Different feels to both cities, and most people like one and hate the other.
Women wise Atlanta > Houston by a long shot.

don't see where an argument would arise. it's houston, houston and houston.

Houston. More latinas and its warmer in the winter.
Also, I'm an Astros fan.

Houston Pros:
Somewhat better economy
Arguably better demographics
Bigger
Arguably Texas provides an advantage
Stranglehold on industry (O&G - may not be current advantage)
More money overall
Atlanta Pros:
Better proximity to nice beaches and mountains
More aesthetically pleasing
Better climate
May be slightly better for an SEC fan
Smaller feel
Subjectively, things like weather and overall aesthetics and feel matter to me, but I already live in Atlanta. On the other hand, Houston having a somewhat (but not necessarily noticeably) better economy doesn't move the needle for me and my profession. Nor does having overall more money, as Atlanta obviously has plenty of money and economic might.
I couldn't fault someone for picking Houston over Atlanta, but Houston just never struck me as being more compelling than Atlanta.
Objectively, I think Dallas beats Atlanta, although a lot of the advantages over Houston would apply over Dallas too. I just think Dallas has the better argument when put up against Atlanta.

Houston is a better city in of itself but I find the burbs of Atlanta to be WAY more charming and less bland.
So if you're a "young professional" (which I presume means you're under 25 and have a job?) then I'd rather live around rice in Houston. If youre looking to get a suburb more reminiscent of a Midwest suburb then Atlanta. Both cities have a lot going on and something for everyone though.

Houston is such a piece of shite city.

Atlanta. There are far too many Texans in Houston.

You're going to get a lot if biased responses given that LSU grads are more familiar with Houston. I had the exact same decision coming out of school and chose Atlanta. I'm happy with my decision and would make an argument for Atlanta for the following reasons:
- city beauty: the city is covered in trees and more aesthetically pleasing than Houston, which is just a flat concrete slab.
- proximity to outdoor activities: North GA mountains, lakes, and drivers nearby for camping, hiking, boating, etc
- weather: not quite as humid as Houston. Fall and Spring are amazing.
- Less Texans: Would you rather hang with an A&M grad or UGA grad? Also plenty of other SEC and ACC grads that enjoy Fall Saturdays.
- Mix of neighborhoods: different hoods for different folks. Buckhead for sec frat crowd. Highlands and other nearby neighborhoods for a bit tamer feel. Westside had plenty of fun spots. Midtown for clubs. Edgewood for hipsters. Also, many in-town neighborhood, have improved in the last 5 years and will continue to do so.

It is a wash. Two large cities that offer everything.

I see a lot of LSU grads in Houston
As much as you see A&M

Maybe if you're from South Louisiana or Houston.
If you're from the rest of the country, Atl winters are fine.
