Maybe let her spend half of the gift card on some coins or whatever and save the other half until X day. If after X day, she wants to spend it on more coins let her do it. It's her gift so it's technically her money and maybe she will change her mind after the first little bit is spent....or she will just want to spend more because that's what those games are designed for.

It's hers, let her be. My son buy soccer balls. He's 8 and he has 10 or so...I saw him with his money out in front of the computer last night (like the computer would give him the damn ball or something). I walked over there and it's a used 2010 World Cup replica ball. I just said no...I only said no since I think the ball sucks, I'd rather he saved for a match ball.

I think I contradicted myself...welcome to parenting.
