Would you ever purchase a xshot camera extender (aka a "selfie stick")?

First thought would be that this is incredibly foolish. However, when you're traveling and have no one around to take pictures for you and your arms don't extend far enough to encompass all the scenery, I could see where it can actually be a great tool.

On amazon for $25

Thoughts?

I use it because it distracts from my regrettable half sun wrist tats. I've got plenty of time to travel by myself now that no one will hire me. Thanks xshot camera extender!

How would you press the button?

I assume this stick has a way to capture the photo for you.

Sure. I'd especially buy one if I had a GoPro.

If it doubles as a walking stick, beating baton, or something of the like I'm game. Just don't see myself carrying around that around just to take selfies. I don't like taking pictures of myself anyway.

I have an odd disdain for the concept of standing in front of camera, and smiling, and calling that a memory. "Hey remember that time we stood there, the same way, over and over again, in front of different backdrops". Thats not a memory. Candid pics are where its at. Or just take pictures as you are experiencing things (without you in them).

Its a losing battle though, so I just smile like a mannequin in front of trees and shite with my friends and family. Begrudgingly though.

This. It has a purpose for that.

You deserve to be mugged if you use one to take duckface selfies.

Go pro you can press a button on your phone to have it capture. They connect, the camera has a mini wifi signal.

Yea. I was in Europe a few months back and this Asian was alone on our tour group of Dachau. He was walking around with this adjustable tripod with his Go Pro on it in one hand, but constantly staring at his iPhone in the other, watching what he was recording.

Then he would set the tripod up and walk back a few feet to get on that next level selfie game.

ETA:

Something like this. As entertaining as it was to watch him, this is actually a pretty cool tool.

I've handed my camera to very poor people to take my picture before without issue.

Hopefully that keeps up
