So I have a few friends who allow their children to call their boyfriends "dad" while the real dad is still in the child's life.

OT thoughts?

Seems like it would be a huge burden lifted. I'd let him call a homeless guy "dad" if the poor bastard picked up the health insurance tab.

Did you receive the ban hammer or go to jail?

Women that do that are evil incarnate. Using kids, and their emotions, like that is deplorable.

If your friend's wife is allowing this to happen there is no doubt in mind she is encouraging it and only doing it get back at your friend. She is a POS for putting a child in this awkward position.

I call my stepdad "daddy" but they got married when I was a little over four. Real father sent child support like clock work but other than a random visit here and there he wasn't part of my life. After years of marriage, she was pregnant with me and he decided he didn't want a wife and child. He doesn't DESERVE to be called dad.

"Stepdad" is the one who raised me, punished me when needed, supported me, helped with homework, toted me around when mom couldn't ... He's my daddy!

They both walked me down the aisle out of courtesy to real father but I kissed my "daddy" last.

I'm not even sure how I'll feel when my real father dies.

Eta: sorry I went off on a tangent. Your situation while the dad is in child's life is wrong.

Sounds like your friends are all bitter and immature women.

Obviously an exception.

This sounds like a bunch of childish women who have their priorities out of whack. Probably idolize kim kardashian and text a lot.

Yeah I went on a tangent here .. Recently saw him and my mind is still not right. I have to take meds when he does want to visit. That's sad I know.
