Would Sinead O'Conner be alive today if she never sang "Nothing Compares 2 U"?

Often times it is said that people can't handle the fame. Too many examples to cite.
But, in her case, I think she's been battling depression before she became famous.

She already had a career going in music, as many other unknowns did at the time.

What ultimately led her to this? Could it just have been her own child committing suicide? That certainly is quite possible.

But, if she never made it more than being a local coffee house singer, what path would her life have been?

Maybe she would not have been so depressed if she had not made a total fricking idiot of herself. Trying to be cool

The OT hating her this much makes me think I should go back and give her music another chance.

Tell me you know nothing about Sinead O'Connor's life (mother, youth, experiences with abuse, son, etc.) without telling me you know nothing about Sinead O'Connor's life.

For most people, they will remember her for one song and for one incident where she acted a fool. Nothing more

She was probably just part of Diddy’s naked basketball games and this is all a cover up.

I've always wondered why people use this gotcha on her so often when so many huge songs were performed by people that didn't write it. Elvis, Johnny Cash, Micheal Jackson, just about all of Motown, 90% of "pop", and on and on.

Prince singing it with Rosie Gains as a duet is something else and my favorite version.

I don't know the answer to this thread, but man talk about destroying your career in a matter of seconds on live TV. I remember being sort of indifferent about what she did...not everybody is gonna like the same shite everyone else does. But man the backlash from that was nuts.

Probably not. Crazy is crazy with or without a song.

The live acoustic Cornell version is my favorite and it's not even close.

She did that as a protest for the church covering up sexual abuse of children.

Turns out she was absolutely correct. Just too far ahead of everyone else.
