There's no comped anything in Germany. You don't even get to use the bathroom for free in some places. Asking a waiter for extra napkins is like asking if his grandfather wore a brown shirt in the war.

That's mostly true but I've been hooked up in several German restaurants. It's not a rule is I guess what I'm getting at.

I've had bad service like anyone else, but I move on with my life. I don't remember any of the details. Sometimes people just aren't good at their jobs.

Worst dining experiences I have ever had is hands down a string of visits to Buffalo Wild Wings on Bluebonnet in BR. I haven't set foot back in that place in over 10 years. They must not miss me since they are still open...

I had a friend who worked late on Tuesday nights so we would get to BWW around 9:30...I think Tuesday was 50 cent wing night or something. The service was usually crappy, but the one that broke the camel's back was this: We placed our order and the waitress brought our drinks. Then 10..20..and finally 30 minutes go by and not only have we not received our food, but we kinda notice that we haven't even seen the waitress anywhere. I go to the bar, describe the situation and who the waitress was, and was told that she had gone home for the night. WTF?? What waitress takes your order and then leaves? Nobody could find our order, so we had to start the whole process over. A manager came and took our order again, and 15 minutes later we got our food. I told my friend while we were waiting that if this meal wasn't totally comped, then I was never returning. Our total bill wasn't more than about $15. The manager said the best he could do was to take off 15%. I paid, we left, and I will never return.

Even after that 15% discount, BWW is one of the most overpriced chain restaurants in existence. I'll never go back there for that reason.

That was a stupid move anyway. There are a ton of better places to watch sports and drink beer. Go to a real sports bar.

Can't say that I have ever had a memorable bad experience, just some stupid things along the way like bad service, under/over cooked meat but each time it was rectified by the waiter or the manager.

I set my own expectations of service and food quality long before I walk in the front door of any restaurant, that helps tremendously.... Same mental philosophy when going on a vacation .

Worst restaurant experience ever was at Applebee's like over 10 years ago.

Our waitress's entire section was a hot mess as she took smoke break after smoke break, where we could visually see her outside smoking.

She wasn't taking care of her tables and we asked the hostess if we could speak with the manager. The hostess goes and tells our waitress that we were asking for a manager. Waitress comes to the table and starts screaming and cussing at the top of her lungs about her personal life and issues she is having. We ask her if we can speak with the manager and she said "no, he's in the line in the kitchen." We paid the bill and didn't leave anything for the tip. We left and she was outside again taking another smoke break.

I know people go through shite and I know Applebee's is a step above fast food, but damn, no one goes out to eat expecting to get yelled at by their server. My friend at the time filed a complaint with corporate over it. He was PISSED.

What I have found is most places now have websites. I just wait til I get home and then send an email. Usually it is just the manager or corporate who has access to the email. Works much more often than not and gets their attention.

You really need to do this nowadays. I give them some slack because I know the type of employees they are training these days. You really are tasked with trying to fix what the parents didn't do.

Burgersmith on Siegen is the worst! Slow service and the food isn't the same as Perkins. And it's dirty.
