I had an entire tray of mixed drinks spilled on me. Apparently, that's not even worthy of a comped drink in Germany.

Ate at a popular fried seafood restaurant in Tangi Parish. Friend got down to the bottom of the pile of fried shrimp and found a fried cockroach. Got free meals. Lol. We didn't make a scene
Applebee's in Jackson ms. Last year. With a crowd but just over two hours to get out. Bill all screwed up

I have a buddy who rides waitstaff like he's a plantation owner. It's pretty annoying to watch.

I got extremely angry with a girlfriend of mine on 4th of July. We were sat in a bar/restaurant that was hosting a 4th of July fireworks party and was slammed. We had actually eaten lunch there that day as well and our waitress at lunch told us that every person was working doubles that day .. Which means at least a 13 hour day.. Well, we never see a server after 15 or so minutes so we grab someone. They tell a girl we are her section and her face drops. She runs over practically in tears.. SO apologetic for not knowing her section.. Explains that sections were divided in a different way than normal due to having most of the employees working that night.

The girl's apology means nothing to my friend and she continues to complain about it to me. When I explain the situation (since I waited tables for a long time) and remind her that all people make mistakes sometimes and the girl was sorry, she gets all snobby about how it's her job and if she can't do her job, she should do something else.

Needless to say, Jones and I picked up the tab for the whole table. Wasn't about to let her control the girl's tip.

the ex and I were getting sushi in London before a play and was brought the wrong bottle of wine. We were still charged for the bottle we ordered even though we were served a lot cheaper bottle.

A place called the Butcher's Block in East Texas had us waiting about 2 hours after we placed our orders and we finally left.

Why would you wait that long? If a server doesn't come to my table 15 minutes after sitting down, I'm gone. If I order and the food doesn't arrive after 45 minutes, I'm gone.

I have, several times, had to go grab my own beer sitting on the bar waiting for the server because he/she was not around...and this is at 4 pm on a weekday.

I just don't get where the wait staff and even now, the bartenders are disappearing to for 10 to 20 minutes at a time at these places .. used to be, sitting at the bar and eating was a great idea .. now, not so much ... and I am noticing this bartender disappearing for long stretches of time phenomenon happening all over town now .. You have customers, at your bar .. drink glasses are empty .. and you just walk away .. where in the frick are they going ?

Pinettas

Ha!

Well, I can understand your frustration because you may have not been aware that part of Pinettas whole appeal is the do not give a frick about how you feel or the service you get.

That's the whole deal with the place.

Your entire experience at Pinettas is dictated by what you pay whoever is running the floor, or whatever you slip your waiter, before you sit down.

They should put a sign up or something that lets people know how it works so people aren't ahocked and can roll some bills out to get what they want.

Smoking. You didn't notice before because they did it at the bar.

it's like the bartender and two or three wait staff at a time, 3 or 4 times while I am there .. The good ones will tell you they are about to go for a few minutes and can they get you something before they leave ..

Deangelos on coursey. Waitress took forever to take our drink orders so finally the hostess got them for us. Waitress shows up maybe 20 minutes after we sit. Takes our order, guy from the kitchen brings our food out. We ate our entire meal with empty glasses on our table and then waited about 15 minutes after we were finished eating before we asked another waitress if she could grab our check. Our waitress came and put the check on the table, never apologized or offered drinks. It was the only time we've not left a tip.

If you'd said the Deangelo's on Highland back in the late 90's, I'd swear we'd eaten that meal together. Only difference in your experience and mine was that our food sat in the pass for 5 minutes getting cold before I went over and got it myself. I knew it was our order bc we were the only customers there.

There's no comped anything in Germany. You don't even get to use the bathroom for free in some places. Asking a waiter for extra napkins is like asking if his grandfather wore a brown shirt in the war.

International worst experience: movie theater restaurant in Belgium. This theater has a pretty decent sit down restaurant attached, with a 30 Euro or so fixed price menu. You get a three course dinner, your movie ticket, and a beer to enjoy during the movie's intermission.

Problem is, restaurants in small town Europe just don't believe in hiring wait staff, I guess bc they don't want to pay them. As a side note, they also don't believe in using trays, so meals are brought out one at a time. So this restaurant has ONE waiter, who is slammed with a full house of 35+ tables at 9 pm, and the last show of the night starts at 10. It takes us 70 minutes to cash out bc everyone else is doing the same. Would have just put our $ on the table and left, but the dude had to give us or movie ticket vouchers.

From then on, movie nights in Belgium were preceded by a McD's stop.

I ordered 2 calzones from there for take-out a while back. When I got home, we discovered that both calzones were burned on the bottom....and I don't mean they had a little black...they were totally burned to the point where the whole thing tasted like charcoal. I called the manager and ended up getting a $25 gift card in the mail, which was nice enough, but how in the hell do you allow something like that to leave your kitchen?

Worst dining experiences I have ever had is hands down a string of visits to Buffalo Wild Wings on Bluebonnet in BR. I haven't set foot back in that place in over 10 years. They must not miss me since they are still open...

I had a friend who worked late on Tuesday nights so we would get to BWW around 9:30...I think Tuesday was 50 cent wing night or something. The service was usually crappy, but the one that broke the camel's back was this: We placed our order and the waitress brought our drinks. Then 10..20..and finally 30 minutes go by and not only have we not received our food, but we kinda notice that we haven't even seen the waitress anywhere. I go to the bar, describe the situation and who the waitress was, and was told that she had gone home for the night. WTF?? What waitress takes your order and then leaves? Nobody could find our order, so we had to start the whole process over. A manager came and took our order again, and 15 minutes later we got our food. I told my friend while we were waiting that if this meal wasn't totally comped, then I was never returning. Our total bill wasn't more than about $15. The manager said the best he could do was to take off 15%. I paid, we left, and I will never return.

Ugh - friend of my husband is like that - I never, ever order the same thing as him because there is no telling what the waiter has added to his food - I don't want to get his by mistake...

I hate people like that. I like to joke around with my server and even tell a corny joke or 2 just to be silly and make things light. They are human too.

A lot of them walk off like they're going to get supplies or whatever, and just go frick around on their phone for 10 minutes at a time. I've seen it happen a lot of times in bars where only one person is working

Do you know how hard it is to fire someone in Europe? Easier to avoid hiring someone.

While the food was good, there is a waiter at the O'Henry's in Metairie that will NOT write down anything and insists that he remembers it all. Well, he literally came back to our table to ask us our orders somewhere around seven times before he finally got it all right. I asked him to please write it down but he just insisted he didn't have to. Low and behold, he fricked up the order and the only thing I wrote next to tip was, "Write it down next time".
