(I fully understand this is the unpredictable and often unforgiving o/t. With that being said...)

September 10, 2015, is World Suicide Prevention Day. Last year my mother-in-law took her own life after a long battle with mental illness and substance abuse. Today, her son (my brother-in-law) released a short documentary in her memory and honor to help raise awareness. Please view and share as you wish.

Thanks

For Wanda

July 13, 2009 my brother took his own life. If you know someone who even looks like they need help. Offer your love and support to them before it's too late. Tell them you love them.

Thank you for sharing this, although you may get snarky responses from some of the e-badasses here.

No snark from me.

I lost my mom to suicide when I was 11. Found her when I got home from school. Five months later my dad went out the same way.

I hate suicide with a passion.

Jeez, I couldn't even imagine the pain you must have felt and still feel. I admire your strength man, I'm not sure that I could have dealt with that.

My father-in-law took his life in 2012 - the day after Father's Day and a week before his only grandson's 1st birthday.

He struggled with untreated PTSD from his combat days as a Marine in Vietnam. Nobody really knew how much he struggled until it was all over.

He was great man. Loving, generous, funny, intelligent, creative and caring.

I'm angry that he chose to take away what would have been an amazing influence on my son.

However, I'm mostly just sad that he was hurting so bad and we never saw it.

We're going to the event downtown tonight to light a candle in his memory.

My dad commited suicide in 2010. That was easily the worst day of my life. It was the night before Thanksgiving and we were in the house when he did it. I hope that people can get the help they need so others don't have to experience what many other families have.

My grandfather killed himself a few months ago. He did it while my grandmother was sleeping right next to him. The funeral home did a great job making him presentable for the funeral but there was still a very noticeable exit wound

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is he trolling? If Walt was going to make up a story, it wouldn't be that one.

Thanks.

He was old. He had been hooked up to an oxygen machine for a few years. He was taking 100 pills a day and relying on my grandmother for everyday task. He was given like 6-8 months to live but I guess he just had enough.
