I know they are on the cheap end of workout equipment, and I know most of the Greek gods here have 6,000 square foot personal gyms at home, but do any of you have experience with CAP?

I'm looking for a new pullup bar and I came across this:

CAP Strength Power Rack for $89. I really just want to use it for pullups.

Also:

CAP Strength FID Bench for $45.

I like the deals but I don't want the bench to break while I'm incline pressing 55 lb...er, I mean 90 lb. dumbells.

Any insight is appreciated. And, to close, yes, I too question whether I truly lift.

It's the max of my adjustable dumbell set.

they are more then likely 14 gauge metal which is crap. I wouldn't buy it unless its at least 11g. The bench prolly has a rating of 300 lbs but that include your weight. So you would be close to the limit with the 55's.

And that is squat stands, not a power cage.

just set aside some cash each week and buy a real power cage. I know its a lot of money but its the best thing to do. If space is an issue then buy the rogue foldable rack.

the ironmaster super bench is good bench under 300.

I have already been down the road you are going down and went cheap. Ended up having to replace everything within 2 years. Best to do it right the first time and be done with it.

Ehhhh

I bought some $110 squat rack from academy when I was in high school and put 300 pounds on it plenty of times. It's about 10 years old now, been outside its whole life, and my brother still uses it.

I don't like that PU bar style. I would get a Stud Bar and mount it to the ceiling (in fact, I did ).

LINK

Overall, though, CAP stuff is pretty solid.

Yeah my friend got some of the CAP stuff because it was cheap but the specified weight limit is low. I think the bench was 300# or 350# which means you're not supposed to do much if you weigh two bills or so. It is light gauge but not total garbage.

It's probably capable of handling 500# or so. My friend just uses it with adjustable dumbells and likes it but if you're 250 looking to bench 400 you are going want something more substantial.

Definitely Craigslist this bitch out. My man Black Gold picked up a gym worthy power rack for $150. If you can score that and a solid adjustable bench you'd be set to lift heavy.

The CAP stuff ain't worth it if you're serious. Maybe for a chick who isn't going to be lifting heavy or if you are a small guy just lookng to stay toned but if you want to get big and jacked look for some heavy duty stuff on C list. People are always trying to sell excercise stuff on there and you can get a much better deal than buying new.

Yep i got my elitefts commercial grade power cage and elite fts commercial grade bench on craigslist.

The cap 86ob barbell is the best bar for the price though. Very good bar, commercial grade.

I wouldn't go that cheap. Get a real power rack. I wouldn't let my kids use that mackey mouse stuff.
