Differing opinions with data to back up each side.

I like low intensity steady state in a fasted state or post workout for injury purposes

I did do an 8 week hiit program on the spin bike and it def worked but you gotta really push it on the sprint portions. I think a lot of people don't realize this when doing these programs.

The high level triathletes are fairly lean. Having large amounts of muscle can be detrimental to their performance. Look at a cyclist legs.

The weekend warriors who participate in it prob are doing the exercise to combat their bad diets.

why are som many cyclist/triathletes skinny fat.

Because they likely have shitty diets and participate in the training and races for fun and to stay healthy, not just for looks.

The way I worded that came off wrong. I was saying to look at their legs as an example of them not being skinny fat.

That nails it for me. I'm certainly skinny fat. But losing body fat isn't my main objective. I'm 5'11 - 165#. Not fat, but could lose some body fat for sure. If I'd watch my diet and try, I could easily lose 15 lbs. I'm not trying to win races at this point, so a few pounds won't help. And I'm not so paranoid about my body image that I need to have super low body fat. I enjoy races and training. I'm healthy and like it.

I certainly don't watch my diet. I eat anything and everything I want. I exercise so that I can eat with no penalty.

Look at sprinters body.. then look at long distance marathon body..

That is a good indicator.

you started off good, but

failed with this. No one here is a legit bodybuilder. Just cause you have some mass doesn't mean you can sprint just as fast or faster than the scrawny 150lb guy next to you.

Everyone tries to push their routine on everyone else. Do what works for you and don't knock someone's routine till you try it. Dont listen to "studies" either.
